“Weekend Convention”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

My Mother and I were in Tucson for a convention and stayed at the Staybridge Suites by the Tucson Airport. WHAT A WONDERFUL STAY. This property is fantastic. The rooms were very large, extremely clean, kitchen area had everything we would need including a dishwasher. The pool area and exercise room were also very nice.

The staff (all of them) were extremely nice and helpful. Kudos to the Staff and Management - you are doing everything right.

I truly can't say enough good things about this stay. We are already planning a return trip.

Room Tip: Odd number rooms on 3rd floor had a great view of the pool. Also, even though this is right by the...

Room Tip: it seems all rooms are good . of cource the one bedroom and up suites are better.

We stayed in Tuson, AZ to visit our kids and a couple grandbabies. Our babies, one and three, stayed with us for 4 out of 6 days. The front desk people were exceptionally friendly and accomodating. (wish they would have known the area a little better). So i'll let you know. There's a Burger King, A Denny's and a lil' breakfast/lunch place 50 yards from the hotel... A waffle house and a few more restaurants within a 1/2 mile. But we didn't have a car, so we only walked the area once. Breakfast was fine - always a variety.. Hot and well presented... Eggs, bacon, sausage, bisquits and gravy, waffle maker, yogurt, breads, cereal etc..
Of Course there is a fridge w/ ice maker, coffee, utensils, and plates in the room, but no grocery store nearby unless you have a car. The manager special between 5 and 7:00 was really nice! Free 'on tap' beer, 2 wines and a different selection every day that was plenty enough to replace dinner for sure. Taco bar, soup and salad, burgers, etc. One night they left the keg open past 7:00 so everyone could finish it off.
The movie theatre was really cool... 12 overstuffed leather chairs and a big screen. The movie selection is VERY limited, but it was still a fun way to end the night with a personal movie choice. Must make reservations.
The pool was on the smaller side, but the temperature was perfect. (considering i like a warm pool and my husband cool). Big Hot Tub. At night they light the big fire torches and the pool turns different colors every 2 or 3 minutes. There is also an area with alternating water jets coming out of the cement for the kids... just push a button like on the hot tub and whooosh.. the kids loved it. Overall it was clean, comfortable and the staff was everything and more than we expected.

Room Tip: The air conditioning was a little loud, but thats normal, right? fighter jets flew over in the morni...

I think this hotel is only a couple of years old. I've stayed before for a 2 week trade show and enjoyed it. This time was no different. I am only in my room to sleep and change clothes so the comfort of the bed was paramount. It was very nice. I like the full size fridge and kitchen area and having two TVs. I stay up later than my room mate so it was nice to be able to watch TV and not disturb anyone. Our room had a nice view of the beautiful pool area complete with flaming fountains and color changing lights. A little chilly for a swim, we nonetheless enjoyed gazing out at the pool. Build your own burrito night was surprisingly good and the breakfast was so good and popular that the friendly kitchen dude was running hard to keep it stocked. He did a great job! I look forward to staying again next year.

Room Tip: top floor rooms are always quieter.

We had booked into a suite through hotels.com and upon our arrival, our room was not available due to a communication error between hotels.com and Staybridge Suites. During the 2 hours I was on the phone to hotels.com to rectify the situation, we were in the lobby. While we were in the lobby we observed half a dozen patrons who had significant complaints, none of which could be satisfactorily addressed. Examples included complaints ranging from malfunctioning in-room electronics, to broken furniture, to a shortage of towels, to a single breakfast server/cook for the entire 100% occupancy hotel, to inappropriate room assignments (2 couples who were travelling together were given a room with one bed and no sofabed and told no other rooms were available). None of problems could be rectified because on this Friday afternoon of the busiest hotel weekend for the year in Tucson, Staybridge Suites was staffed with a single front desk person, and no housekeeping, no maintenence personnel, and no manager. We were so relieved to have our accomodations changed to Tucson Airport Hotel and Suites.

Room Tip: Stay away from Staybridge Suites.

stayed at this hotel (2 bedroom suite) over christmas with my family, The staff busted into my room without any notice and said i can go peacefully or they would throw me out. They were referring to the fact that they could smell marihuana. I did have a small amount on me but did not use it in the room at all (i use a vaporizer which does not put out smoke but did not use at hotel) They (front desk clerk) even said that they knew we werent smoking but get the hell out now. Arizona does allow medicinal marijuana and so does Mi. but the manager and front desk clerk (man who threatened to throw us out) said they do not care even though i showed them the laws of Az. which does allow it. Mypatients in MI. are diagnosed with cancer, MS, and severe chronic pain. I am 57 years old and my patients are 44 to 69, not young kids. They also did not have a problem with their employees smoking right outside the front door even though there was no smoking within 20 feet of building. The hotel and most of the staff was good but i hope that enough people who care about medicinal marijuana will not use this hotel and any of you with bad experiences would review this hotel. WOULD NEVER STAY AGAIN, THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO PUSH THEIR OWN AGENDA WHICH DOES NOT COINCIDE WITH THE LAW. I was prepared to stay but we did leave because my wife did not want the hassle of ruining our holiday.

Room Tip: actually the noise was the worst part had trouble blocking it out

We have stayed at this Staybridge hotel twice, and it does feel like home. It has everything you need -- from a well equiped suite to a great breakfast and evening receptions and a good sized pool and hot tub in a serene setting -- and all look brand new. What makes this hotel unique is that the staff really cares, and you get to know them by first name. Norm takes pride in the food he is making for you, and makes you feel like famly. He even gave us a cupcake on his birthday!! We needed two extra kitchen chairs while our kids visited for the weekend, and they brought them over from a vacant room. It's only a few minute ride from the airport, but it is tucked into a side street, so it is very quiet. If you are traveling with only carryon luggage, this hotel has 4 or 5 washers and dryers that are free. Even a movie theather with leather lazyboys if you want to lay back and relax. We will definitely stay at this hotel when we return to Tucson, and it has started our booking other Staybridge properties across the country.

Room Tip: Half of the rooms face the courtyard with the pool
