My husband and I stayed at La Casita del Sol over Thanksgiving in 2009. It was a fantastic place, perfect for two. It had three rooms - bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. An outdoor patio was a great space for reading and relaxing. It's authentic Mexican decor, historic presence and uniqueness made us thrilled to stay there. It was outfitted with modern HVAC, so the temperature was just right. It was also within walking distance of an exceptional restaurant, El Charro. As a Bed & Breakfast, fruit and authentic, delicious Mexican pastries were provided once upon our arrival. It was nice to feel like we were "living" there in a historic neighborhood as opposed to feeling like tourists.
One caveat of the location is that a busy train runs through the area, but the noise of the train didn't make us lose any sleep. You'll also need to pay by cash or check and sign a temporary lease, including a deposit that won't be cashed unless you damage something in the casita. The owners live in a condo next door and were available if we had any additional needs, which we didn't.
Highly recommend La Casita del Sol!
