It’s a quick or long stop when driving through Saguaro National Park! Small gift shop, lectures, movie, restrooms and education about the area. No matter your pleasure, it has something for you!

Nice new facility with a modern design. The 15 minute film was not worth the time. New age one with the desert type stuff. The staff acted rushed, but was kind of slow there due to the rainy weather. But, worth the stop. Good gift selections.

We visited Saguaro the week after the government shutdown. The Red Hills Visitor Center was shuttered but still teeming with people who hoped grace might be on their side (or didn’t know any better...).

It is a picturesque building surrounded with native landscaping and educational signage, but without the staff, it was empty. Having visited a number of National Parks, I know how critical the commitment of the staff is to the continued care and preservation of these national treasures.

On the trails surrounding, there are many trails in the West park that provide awe inspiring views of the surrounding Mesas, Mountain sides and the Saguaro forests. I’m sure the park staff misses going to work for many reasons.

Worth the trip for a half day excursion under furlough- I can only imagine how nice it is with the staff.

This is a great visitor center with very helpful staff and rangers. The view of the saguaro forest from the window and observation area is almost overwhelming. Be sure and do the short walk out in front of the visitor center. A must stop to familiarize yourself with the west area of Saguaro National Park.
