This is a small zoo, perfect for families with young children and those who don't want to take up the whole day. They have elephants, giraffes, zebras...and my favorite is the anteater, who is surprisingly beautiful. It is a good choice for out of town visitors.

This is a wonderful zoo...you can interact with some of the animals...very open animals roam in very large pens as you walk the trails...the staff is very knowledgeable too.

The zoo was definitely great for the size of the place! Very clean and the upkeep was spectacular. Sad the Polar Bear passed away.

You just wouldn't expect such a nice little zoo in a small city in southwestern U.S. but Reid Park Zoo tries to do it right. They festival of zoo lights at the holidays is a don't-miss affair. They care about the animals and it shows.

The Reid Park Zoo is a great little community zoo in Tucson. I visited recently with young family members from New York. They were happy with how close the little kids can get to animals via the more natural enclosures and glass dividers to such large animals as the tigers. The park is kept very clean and there is an education center and areas where one can buy a handful of food for the ducks. For a small fee, you can also feed the giraffes - such a great photo opportunity!
The pluses of this zoo include the new Elephant center with a family of elephants, but also some fairly interesting interactive exhibits. Press against the large elephant "backside" near the ladies room, and you'll know what I mean! There is a gift shop with a nice selection of animal related gifts, and a cafeteria. Or better yet, pack a lunch - "do the zoo" in the earlier morning when it is less warm, and then walk over to the children's playground in Reid Park or have lunch along side the lake with ducks, geese and water fowl abound.
This zoo is small enough to keep a toddler's interest and not overwhelm grandparents in tow!
