There was an abundance of food with the meal that kept us filled. We had a party of 20+ and the staff took very good care of us.

“Unexpected Find”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

We were traveling from Phoenix and took a scenic detour. We ended up here to eat a very late lunch or an early dinner. It is often hard to get good service at an awkward 4PM time slot, but the Signature Grill did just fine. We stayed long enough for the sun to set, and then continued on to Tucson. We experimented with food items and shared dishes. We had fun. We enjoyed tasting Tequilla. The only downside was a mix-up where a Lobster bisque was served instead of the correct soup.

“Date night delight!”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

We stayed at the JW Marriott Starr Pass resort for a weekend getaway, and decided not to venture out of the hills into town for dinner. We loved the southwest menu offered here and found everything - well, almost everything - to be absolutely delightful. The server recommended we try the cactus fries appetizer (batter-dipped strips of nopalita cactus pads). Well, we can now say we have had them but I wouldn't ever order them again. They tasted like deep-fried pickles or bell peppers - not to our liking at all. The bread basket came with thin pretzel sticks, a pecan lavash, and doughnut-shaped yeast buns with a savory tomato center that made up for the cactus fries.

The pork chop entree came with two generous-sized chops topped with a roasted tomato sauce, and the dijon salmon came with a southwest ratatouille and red onion potato mash. Terrific! And service was impeccable - attentive but not overbearing.

They are open for breakfast and we noticed some incredible looking pastries in the case at the entrance, so we will be back in the morning!

“MOST Excellent Service”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

After checking in(early) we met some(local) relatives for lunch, before they took us touring. One of them has a very restricked diet, which presented somewhat of a challenge when ordering. After receiving the food, she got exactly what was ordered, but not quite what she was expecting. The VERY gracious waiter (Trisk) acted like it was her fault(definitely NOT) and proceeded to correct the error with humor and grace. I have to say even prior to this she was one of the nicest, most attentive wait staff we have encountered in a long time!

It is obvious they train their personal to address you by name and have conversation, as the 4 other times we ate here during our stay everyone was very nice, but Trisk really went above and beyond. After having a terrible service experience just a day before in Casa Grande(see review of Evas Mexican) it was so nice to not only receive excellent service but that and then some!

We dined 5 times in the Signature Grill during our 2 1/2 day stay at the JW. Our first day for lunch, then a late night dessert. Our 2nd day for breakfast and dinner, and our last morning for breakfast. All meals were very good, with excellent service. It is a very warm and casual setting.

Yes, it is a little pricey compared to an off site restaurant, but I don't think it was at all for a nice resort.

“Great soup”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

We stayed at the resort and enjoyed one dinner and a breakfast buffet here. Food for dinner was fine -- pork pozole soup served at both meals, and is a fabulous treat. Also have some nice Arizona wines at dinner, which were pretty good and fun to try.
