Went on a leisurely drive through this spectacular national park. The Saguaro cactus are simply amazing each so unique as are all the various types of cactus. Very peaceful and scenic.

On an escape from a sub zero Midwest winter blast, we found ourselves in Tucson on a beautiful sunny 75° January day and headed out for a quick drive through of Saguaro East National Park. Certainly not a midwestern landscape! Well worth a visit, our quick 8 mile loop drive through ended up taking 4 hours of hiking on well marked trails. If new to this area, make sure to spend time in the visitor center looking at the displays and watching the new 19 minute film on the park and it’s wildlife.

Signal Hill & King's Canyon are two places in the park with fascinating petroglyphs that are easy to get to. At Signal Hill there's also signage to help you learn more about the area. At King's Canyon, hike about 1 mile until you get to the check damn built by the CCC & look up on both sides of the canyon walls & you'll see the drawings. Then be sure to stop at the Red Hills Visitor Center & be sure to watch the film. There's lots of trails!

I saw the west side years ago and explored the east side of the park this trip. Gorgeous and unique. Quite a few pull outs and some hiking opportunities. Highly recommend if you enjoy nature and seeing something that you can’t believe is real.
