“Unforgettable Week at The Ranch”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

My sister and I had not had a vacation together since we were kids. Now we are both seniors. She rides her horse in Northern California almost daily. I live in Tucson and hadn't ridden in a decade. After a brief visit to the White Stallion Ranch, I assured my sister that this would be a terrific venue for vacation reunion. With the addition of a third friend, we three spent a week being pampered on the hotel side, consuming amazingly delicious and plentiful food while we turned the clock back to "Wild West" of our childhood with a varied and delightful assortment of riding experiences. I would highly recommend the White Stallion Ranch to anyone seeking an unusual and fun-filled vacation experience. The beauty of the Ranch, the breathtaking Tucson Mountain views and the heart warming horsey adventures can only be topped by the kindness and professionalism of the WSR staff and owners. You gotta go!

Our first time at a guest ranch - found everything to be top notch - from the friendly welcoming staff, lovely accommodations, great horses and rides, terrific food and entertainment. Many of the guests had been there before, and we were surprised by the number that were international - a fun and friendly crowd. Hope to return next year!

Returned today after 8 days of heaven. Have wanted to go to this ranch for a couple of years after doing a lot of research on many ranches throughout the USA. Many people (groups, couples and lone travellers) are return guests but they were all very welcoming and friendly as were the staff. I would not hesitate to go on my own. Russell and his team of wranglers seem to have a 6th sense when pairing horses to riders. (Stetson was a dream to ride). The scenery around the ranch takes your breath away. You are able to ride several times a day (included) as well as have lessons if you wish (at a small cost). The bar costs are extremely reasonable so no need to stock up before you come. The gift shop sells a variety of goods far cheaper than we saw at the airport. You are able to add the cost of purchases to your room. The meals were really tasty with something for everyone to enjoy. Already planning a return trip! Missing the place already. Once you go, you will be hooked - be warned. 5*

The return trip was every bit as good as last year and we found ourselves with many guests that we had met the year before - the highest guest return rate I've every come across. The staff were wonderful, meals excellent and the horse riding great, especially the additional lessons - learning a little about barrel racing from an expert was amazing!

Just returned from a week’s stay at White Stallion are we are already planning our return.

From the moment we were collected at Tucson airport, we were greeted by friendly smiles and helpful staff. The ranch itself is fabulous. Not as big as we imagined so it was very easy to find our way around and consequently we felt at home very quickly. We had a standard double room which was more than adequate with 2 beds, a seating area, fridge, safe, lovely sized bathroom (with a great, powerful shower) and our own private patio with additional seating.

Happy Hour at the bar was a great time to get to know fellow guests over a refreshing drink and the delicious appetisers provided nightly. All of the guests are extremely friendly and welcoming and we instantly felt part of the family. The honour bar is very reasonably priced with a great selection of beers, wines and soft drinks and complimentary nibbles.

The food is delicious, varied and plentiful. Fresh fruit, cereals, bagels, toast, oatmeal or a cooked breakfast of your choice every morning. Lunch is a wonderful buffet of cold meats, pastas, sandwiches, salads, and a variety of hot food with a weekly ‘hayride’ out into the desert for a barbecue lunch. Dinner is, again, a buffet, usually offering a meat or fish option (special diets catered for with advance notice) with wonderful salads, vegetables, rice, pastas and breads. It would surely be impossible to go hungry at White Stallion!

The riding programme was superb with a choice of slow and fast rides to cater for every ability. We particularly enjoyed the fast mountain rides and the Beer and Cheetos ride. Team Penning was also great fun and the professional photographer on the ranch made sure we had some superb mementoes of our cattle herding incompetence. Lessons are available at $20 each and we took advantage of a barrel racing lesson which was money well spent.

It was also lovely to be able to thank my beautiful horse, Cash, with a hose down and some cookies at the end of the week. I don’t know how, but the wranglers seem to have a sixth sense at picking the right horse to suit not only your riding ability but your personality and Cash and I got on famously.

In short, the only bad thing about White Stallion Ranch is leaving it.

I've just returned from a fabulous long weekend at The White Stallion Ranch. I met a girlfriend there for a girls' weekend. The place was fabulous - very clean, excellent staff, great food, beautiful scenery and horses. Oh, and the nightly entertainment was terrific too.

Thank you Russell, Michael, Laura, Gabe, James, and the rest of the WS staff. I'll be back soon with my husband and 7 yr old son. They're going to love it too.

I stayed for a week with my boyfriend in September, and had booked based on the excellent reviews and feedback so we went with very high expectations. These were completely surpassed in every respect. I am a lifelong horse lover and experienced rider, whereas my boyfriend had ridden a few times but was very keen to give it a go.

The office staff and reservations team could not have been more helpful, even when we were horribly delayed on our journey over (never fly with United!!) and we didn't arrive until the early hours. We were still met at the airport without any trouble and checked in with a drink when we arrived.

We stayed in Room 42 which opened out onto one of the main corrals, always with friendly horses at the fence to spend time with - bliss! There was a choice of rides each day, and my boyfriend was able to pass the "fast test" first time and undertake the fast rides for the whole week. The wranglers are absolutely outstanding and really made the week for us - Jeremiah, James and Jenny were superb company, both in the saddle and out. The scenery was beautiful, far more impressive than we imagined.

The facilities were unbelievable, with so much effort and thought having gone into the nature and quality of everything available. We particularly enjoyed the tennis court, pool and hot tub, and the break between rides in the middle of the day meant that it was the perfect combination of both an active and relaxing trip. The food was superb, and the "honour bar" was wonderful, with exceptionally reasonable prices considering that that ranch could probably charge whatever they like.

Finally, the horses themselves were out of this world. So well mannered and well cared for, clearly loved, and the wranglers and Russell do an outstanding job of matching the horse to the rider, so that you can keep the same horse for the whole week. I completely fell in love with beautiful Cody, and my boyfriend developed a huge soft spot for the enormous and gentle Latigo.

This ranch really is a true gem and we will be returning for sure. The pride taken by the True family and all of the staff at the ranch shines through in every aspect, and the only negative thing about the whole trip was that we had to leave, which made us so very sad.

Room Tip: Rooms 41 and 42 were right next to the main corral, as well as being just metres from the main lodge...
