Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort and Spa
Ranked #27 of 129 Hotels in Tucson
Reviewed October 4, 2010

I was greatly impressed with everything about my stay here. It was set in the most beautiful background of Tucson, located near many restaurants, shopping, AJ's grocery, hiking trails, etc. But, it felt like I was far away from it all too. Spacious, quiet grounds, clean, tons of plants, trees, flowers with hummingbirds and butterflies all over the place.

The Gold restauarant was absolutely the best meal I ever had-( I'm vegetarian). While there were a variety of meat/fish dishes to choose from, there were also delicious vegetarian options. The grilled vegetable medley dish was THE BEST vegetarian meal I ever ate. The outside seating overlooked the city, the stars, the sky(caught some lightning), the air was perfectly warm, and they had a female singer the night I stayed, w/her solo guitarist playing beautiful, soft music in the background.

The staff were amazing--well seasoned, very friendly, helpful, warm...it almost felt like I was visiting family. The room was really nice-comfy bed, clean all around, great shower, good movies to choose from...and they even had a nightlight in the bathroom. A little touch that shows this hotel has it's 'stuff' together. The pool, and bar, and bartender were really great too. (I got the room at a great price through TA)

We are pleased you've discovered our "oasis in the desert." With over 80 acres in the heart of Northwest Tucson, we offer solitude and serenity just steps from all the city has to offer. Your compliments will be passed on to Chef Wallace, who incorporates into his dishes as much of his on-site garden and items from local growers as possible. The views from our patio and terrace are a great place to catch a lightning show, or just watch the stars come out. So glad you were able to experience it! Our team will be pleased to know they exceeded your expectations; they are committed to guest satisfaction and love to hear back from guests that they hit the mark. We look forward to your next visit to Westward Look.

There are bigger resorts in Tucson, but none as welcoming and charming as Westward Look. The rooms have been recently redone and provide lovely views and are quite private and peaceful. The three pools are great, the spa is excellent and breakfast on the outside patio is the best. The staff is one of the best features of the resort--I've never seen anyone without a welcoming smile and they seem truly interested in helping you have the best stay possible.

After several recommendations from friends and family, we stayed in one of the Stargazer Suites and it was incredible! The suite was huge and having the hot tub was such a bonus! We celebrated our daughter's Birthday at the resort and the weekend was very special! The accomodations were extremely generous for the price compared to others we had checked out and the staff was courteous and helpful. Whenever we asked for anything they were there! My daughter's favorite (and mine) was the Spa which we enjoyed our mani/pedi's! The food at the Bar & Grill was great and the view is incredible! This is a Must Stay for our family!!

We will pass on your praise to our team; they will be thrilled to know they made her special day and your stay with us even more memorable. We're sure the Sonoran Spa was a wonderful birthday treat. We hope to see you back at the resort soon!

This is really a hidden gem! We had gone here for a wedding reception last Spring but had stayed down the road at another place that was ok, but really didn't have any personality. WE ARE SOOOOO GLAD WE CAME BACK TO STAY A WEEKEND @ the WESTWARD LOOK!!! My wife loved their Day Spa (great stone treatments) while I hit the fitness club and lap pool...the staff said everything had been remodeled recently and it really looked it...the room we booked had its own private balcony & vaulted ceilings...really nice tile work in the shower area...and plenty of room (I'm 6'3")...nice, comfortable king beds...really slept well all three nights we were there. They've got some specials running on their website where you get a credit for each day you're there...so we put that towards the Spa treatments which made it feel like we were getting a pretty good deal. We're going to try and get back before Thanksgiving for our anniversary, their more formal restaurant (I think it's called Gold) is now open too, so we're really looking forward to trying that out as well ...would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

Pros:
$120 suite is great.
two separate sinks.
nice air conditioning.
Food at Gold and Look Out Resturants
property kept
near mall and resturants
free internet

Cons: As of 9/12/10
A "Hotel Fee Charge" is added to room rates
No HD Channels - very fuzzy
No DVD / Blu-Ray Player
No in room bar
No in room snacks
In room movies are not in HD - fuzzy

Improvement:
New beds, ours was worn out on the sides
Control Bugs around door and patios
Light needed over the ice machines
cheaper movies - 15.99 for a non HD movie is EXPENSIVE!
remove hotel charge - thats what a room rate should include
Add mini bar
add snack bar

Long term stays could be challenging but short term stays could be relaxing!

Lovely views of mountains and desert...hotel is a great value especially when they run specials. Our special included breakfasts--a great buffet served at the Gold Room restaurant, which also has a fabulous menu for other meals when it's open--and the less expensive pool side grill is also good. Hotel is child-friendly, so check the season if you want to avoid kids at any one of the three pools--two of which are quieter; the main pool near the restaurants often has loud music playing in the afternoons so I avoid that one. The uppermost lap pool was out of service while we were there....was disappointed that it would take several days to get rid of the algae bloom. The rooms are great--they have balconies or patios, newly renovated showers--but it can be a long-ish walk to the main building if you have any disability; however, the staff will pick you up in a golf cart, cheerfully and without delays. Totally friendly, courteous service. Don't miss a spa treatment, either. We try to visit this hotel once a year.

I arrived to find that the resort lobby was full of a group checking in...I thought it would be a nightmare before I could get to my room and relax after a long hot drive. As it turned out the staff was prepared for the huge group...had them routed to a special check in station and I was taken care of right away. My room was spacious and cool and quiet with a view of the nearby mountains.
There was a quiet pool by my room away from the lobby and busy families that were enjoying the resort and the main pool. I was able to use the spa and the fitness center.
Here I was in the middle of a busy city -- a busy resort--and able to have the comfort and solitude I needed...thank you Westward Look---I will return and I will recommend.

Thank you for the great review and recommendation. Handling a large group check in can be challenging; we are pleased our experienced and efficient Front Desk Team took care of your group's arrival so effortlessly. Our "desert oasis" offers a wonderful setting for relaxation between meetings and we're glad you had time to enjoy the pool, our Sonoran Spa and our newly renovated Fitness Center. We look forward to your return.
