We arrived late Thursday night. I thought my Expedia package included the resort fees. When I questioned them and the hour of my check in, she reduced them by half which was nice.
I had called a week ahead to verify the reservation and asked about an upgrade to the room. I was told I had been placed in a room by the pool, but they would give me a room with a mountain view. That was not the case. We were in a room on the bottom floor, and we had noisy neighbors above us and were awakened at 3:30 am. When trying to take a nap later that day, the noise continued. When I inquired about being moved to another room, they said they had none, and just to call security next time.
The shower stall in the morning had a pool of brown water at the bottom. Not sure if it was sewage backup or a leak from above the shower stall. Anyway, somewhat of a disappointing trip.

This was a weekend retreat for us and remembering Westwardlooks drop-dead view of Tucson at night we wanted to stay there for a change. Great local 60's-70's rock band was a surprise at dinner in the lounge. Great city lights, great evening out. The room had a light layer of dust (it's Arizona living) in the vanity area as if it hadn't been used in a while, but was otherwise very clean, with an extremely comfortable bed. A few oddities in design such as a hard to reach shower valve can be somewhat expected through a few remodels. Very quiet room with a great view of it's own. Starbuck's (cash) coffee bar in the main lobby was also very welcome in the morning. The paved paths are a great way to enjoy the beauty of the mature Sonoran desert any time but especially early morning or at sundown. The property is just off a major thoroughfare but back far enough you don't hear any traffic. YES, as a Tucson native I will return, and anyone who isn't as familiar with the desert will surely enjoy their stay witnessing birds, lizards, maybe a little wildlife while learning the history of this historic one time ranch. Very attentive and friendly staff throughout the property.

I have not visited this hotel in a very long time. It has "changed" or rather adapted to the new century. I liked it when it had a more elegant - yet rustic Tucson atmosphere. I stopped by with a friend to tour the property and to have a glass of wine and enjoy the lovely view. It was a nice experience overall. A highlight was visit to the gift shop. The young woman managing the gift shop was a breath of fresh air. The shop has a very nice selection of items to choose from. The bar we stopped into have our wine was virtually empty with the exception of a few young women who seemed to occupy the time of the bartendress. Rather than walk over to us and ask what we would like to order - she yelled out to us and then continued chatting with the young women. My friend and I are both former hotel executives and we "cringed" at her lack of decorum in addressing us. Granted she was friendly -- just a bit uncouth from our perspective. Price wise--the glass was literally half full. OUCH! Oh, well--it was worth it just to discuss the pros and cons of hotel customer service at this resort. The resort itself is nice and in a good location. Still--I wish it had retained more of the elegant rustic southwest flavor of yore (something the Arizona Inn has succeeded in doing so admirably).
