Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: Be amazed at one of the world's largest aircraft collections: including 3 hangars of World War II planes, supersonic spyplanes, the world's smallest bi-plane, plus many other unique private, military and commercial air & spacecraft documenting the evolution of flight. Friendly docents augment your visit. Only Pima Air & Space offers the bus tour of the "Boneyard"/AMARG (M-F only, no holidays, 10-day Advanced Reservations Required) plus offers its own tram tour of the museum's 80 acres of one-of-a kind planes daily (additional fees). You can actually touch "aviation history" including "Freedom One" (that flew the American 444-days-in-Iran hostages home), presidential crafts, planes that launched astronauts, delivered life-saving food/fuel, etc. and others with wingspans the length of a football field... Ogle helicopters, MiGs, an Oscar, a rare German buzz bomb, a moon rock and much more. 350 aircraft, 80 acres, 6 indoor air-cooled hangars. Just plane awesome!

Need a full day to really see it all. However there is "train" you can ride around and see the outdoor aircraft in a relatively short period of time.

Have been visiting the museum now for over 10 years and on each visit there is something new, either a new aircraft on display, a new display building or as in this case the new Flight Grill, a great addition to the museum. Being September it was very hot so do not forget to carry a bottle of water with you, also plan your visit so that you walk one area of the outside display area and then go inside one of the hangars to cool down before going outside to look at another area of the displays, we found this works very well. For anyone interested in aviation this is a must visit museum with over 300 aircraft on display, from early biplanes to Cold War era jet fighters and an example of the mighty SR71 Blackbird.

Great fun wandering around the old planes but you do need to be very interested in planes! Have a picture taken on the steps of an AIr Force One.

It was an interesting place to visit but not action-packed or anything. My son thought it was cool but he was mostly just running around in dirt. He got a little bored, I think. The only thing I really remember is the really big big big plane and the OLD Airforce One plane which is the only one you can walk through. Overall, it wasn't horrible but not really a fun place to go if you're not really into planes.
