Attraction details
Owner description: Be amazed at one of the world's largest aircraft collections: including 2+ hangars of World War II planes, supersonic spyplanes, the world's smallest bi-plane, plus many other unique private, military and commercial air & spacecraft documenting the evolution of flight. Friendly docents augment your visit. Only Pima Air & Space offers the bus tour of the "Boneyard"/AMARG (M-F only, no holidays) plus offers its own tram tour of the museum's 80 acres of one-of-a kind planes daily (additional fees). You can actually touch "aviation history" including "Freedom One" (that flew the American 444-days-in-Iran hostages home), presidential crafts, planes that launched astronauts, delivered life-saving food/fuel, etc. and others with wingspans the length of a football field... Ogle helicopters, MiGs, an Oscar, a rare German buzz bomb, a moon rock and much more. 300 aircraft, 80 acres, 5 indoor air-cooled hangars. Just plane awesome!

If you like old airplanes and history this is the place for you. Also took the tour to the airplane boneyard at Davis Monthan AFB. Paricularly enjoyed the little separate museum of the WWII bomb wing out from the main museum.

“Like none other”

So much to see. You need more than the afternoon I dedicated to it. There were planes just sitting there that I have read about and never expected to see.

If it is summer go early or hit the air conditioned Hangers.

Outstanding display. Try to catch the B-17 Pilots talk, ask questions.

“Absolutely worth visiting.”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

I never realized how many different aircraft have been built for war time use. It is a very good tour with very knowledgable docents and well worth the money. One caveat, the tram seats are very hard and if you have a bad back you need to really want to see the airplanes!
