another must see--this mission was founded in the 1700's and has been maticulously refurbished from artisians from around the world. No words can describe the beauty--each year you feel as though you haven't remembered so much artwork

It’s opulent, old world Catholicism transported to the desert. The Indians must have freaked out with all the gold leaf, painted religious statues, etc.!

An interesting historic site offering a view into religion and church life of the early 1700’s. Our visit was timely as on this particular weekend, a yearly festival was in full operation. This certainly added to the traffic that day which I believe is normally much less congested. A parking fee of $3.00 was not expected, however did not dissuade us from partaking the site and history. The Catholic Church is stunning with a beauty and history of many years past. On this special day, concession stands were setup selling native foods, a nice feature. Our reward was the purchase of a dessert tortilla sprinkled with sugar, oh so tasty. Well worth the visit., you will not be disappointed.

The Misson is an extremely interesting building with a very interesting history. Make sure to allow time for the 25 minute video of the history and restoration of the Mission. Also, take time to check out the ornate decorations in the Mission.

The restoration that is ongoing just adds to the history and beauty of this place. We almost didn't make the trip out here, but we sure were glad that we decided to stop.
We ended up spending two hours at the mission and could have easily spent more time.
