Everyone in our group from toddlers to seniors enjoyed the day here. We went early on a cool day so the animals were pretty active when we arrived. The animal encounters are great! We checked the schedule when we entered to make our plans. We saw a bird of prey close up and also a snake. The docents were excellent not only with their prepared talks, but with answering questions. The prairie dogs are active and fun to watch. We chose not to do the desert loop trail this time as it's a little more strenuous and some of our party were not up for it. Seeing the beaver den was interesting and the otters were visible from both above and below in the underwater. viewing area. The free flight demonstration for the birds of prey was great. There is a family bathroom near the entrance that made things a little easier.

What can I say that is different from all of the other 5 star reviews? Nothing ! Go and enjoy! Go when they open before it gets too hot.

This was our first foray into desert life in Arizona. Since it's still winter, we missed the flowering foliage, but we also escaped the heat

This is a MUST see, even if you are not a desert person. If you are near Tucson, spend two hours here and you will come away with a new appreciation of cacti and desert life

A unique and wonderful hawk flying demonstration - lasted 1/2 hour and well worth forgoing some of the other tours to include this one. The museum itself is the best we've seen in all our travels. Knowledgeable guides, friendly staff, out of site items in their gift shop - especially the pottery collection. It would be easy to spend 2 days here; make sure you get here in the morning to take advantage of the tours. More are offered in the morning than afternoon. The food in the restaurant was excellent and there were a variety of choices for all types. Lines moved very quickly.

Do NOT miss this if you're in the Tucson area. We spent about 5 hours here and were amazed by all the different things to see. We attended an educational presentation showing live animals that lived in the area. The presenter was extremely knowledgeable and very entertaining. She answered the numerous questions that were given to her by the audience without flaw. We attended a live raptor fly-over held later in the day. Given the large area and the many people that attended, the speaker system was excellent as we were a little further back but could hear and see the birds very well. There's a cave, live animals, small aquarium, reptiles, big cats, spiders, javalinas, hummingbird aviary, and the many cactus and plants that grow in the desert. The restaurant was closed but the cafe was open. The food was pretty standard but the french fries were very good. The gift shop is large and has a little something for everyone. Only wish I could have had my grandchildren with me, so they could experience this too!
