this small museum is situated in the Saguaro National Park and offers the opportunity to discover the area faune, plants and rocks, in a beautiful landscape.
The museum shop has a good choice of pottery.

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is an attraction that has fascinated and educated people for many years and has stepped up to the modern day plate with much more to see and do! The gift shops and eating places are always a treat, especially after walking the the entire place.

Really great place to walk around and enjoy the desert life. So many different exhibits and wildlife and awesome views of natural life.

This museum used to be stellar but it has markedly declined over the past 10 years. The setting remains beautiful but the exhibits have not changed significantly in 10 years. The grounds are not kept up in the way that they should be if desiring to continue to attract people to this former gem of the southwest

This was a good day trip for the family. It was light exercise with a nice walk around beautiful landscape and many animals to see. We really enjoyed the bird flight show. I highly recommend as part of vacationing in Arizona.

Want to finally come to a museum that has come to life? This place is one of my favorite places to visit in the southwest. It is a living and breathing museum that has dozens of activities and spots to explore for children and adults alike. Take your time there to enrich yourself and let the desert speak and come to you. Most of all, have fun!

We spent a full day enjoying the exhibits and outdoors. The docents were incredibly well informed and upbeat. The variety of animals and their habitats interesting. Loved watching the raptors soar over the park and then the dark of the mineral cave display. Beware that the map and signage need work.

We began with a guide docent tour. On this tour we saw and learned about shrubs, trees, and climate. We saw a mountain lion, a black bear, and two Mexican wolves. At 10 am we were treated to a "raptor flight." Employees enticed a great horned owl and two hawks to fly and perch close enough to get very good pictures. We also learned about their life style. There are two miles of trails (wheelchair accessible) that take you through various ecosystems. There is a reptile house, an aquarium, a gift/book store and two places to get a meal. Benches and water fountains can be found along the trails.

During my recent trip to Tucson, we spent a few hours at the Sonora Desert Museum. It was 2 adults and one 2 year old. We all enjoyed ourselves with the animals, beautiful scenery and landscapes, interesting exhibits and artifacts, plus the Packrat playhouse to keep the little one entertained. We had a nice lunch in the cafeteria there and shopped at the gift shop. Overall it was a really nice day and a great way to experience the desert on a short trip to Tucson. Recommend 100%.
