“Experience all the Southwest has to offer”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Anyone visiting Tucson needs to be sure to visit the Desert Museum. The museum has all the desert creatures as well as the desert plants and history of the region. Allow at least two to three hours to view the creatures, the history and to take in the breath-taking scenery. An excellent place to get an education in what the Sonoran desert has to offer.

“Don't miss it”

One place you should take any visitor from out of town, especially those completely unfamiliar with the Sonoran Desert. The docents are very knowledgable and engaging. The raptor free flight is incredible!

“Mission Accomplished”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

“The mission of the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum is to inspire people to live in harmony with the natural world by fostering love, appreciation, and understanding of the Sonoran Desert.” I'm not sure how someone could come here with an open mind and heart and not be inspired.

There is something for everyone here. It's a zoo, botanical garden, art gallery, natural history museum and aquarium. We walked it all but a highlight for us was the hummingbird aviary. The little guys are as curious about you as you are about them. If you sit quietly on a bench it is likely you will have a hummingbird inches from your face in no time. The gardens are wonderful and we left with a list of plants we want to plant in our yard.

As stated by others, an early arrival is best. You don't want to short yourself on time and Arizona can get really hot in the summer. Okay, late spring and early fall too. The are discount rates for Arizona residents and active military, ID required. We highly recommend the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum.

“A must”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

An interesting and educational experience for all ages. Well worth the time. Wear protection from the sun...and come early in the day to see many of the demonstrations such as the raptor talk. You will appreciate the desert a lot more at the end of the day.
