I have been to Tucson many times and every time I visit the Desert Museum. It is fabulous and a definite must-do activity when visiting Tucson. There is so much to see and learn at the museum, so plan on at least four hours or more. While there are water fountains throughout the outdoor museum, I would bring some bottled water too. The Raptor Flight is very popular, so if you plan on seeing it, which I highly recommend, plan on getting to the area at least 10 minutes before the demonstration show starts to get a good spot in the middle. Enjoy!

Everything about this attraction is amazing - up close with the plants and animals of the Sonoran Desert, informative and fun exhibits, beautiful walking paths and natural habitats for the creatures. Staff and docents are helpful and knowledgeable; the raptor free-flight was fantastic. The Hummingbird House is also a favorite spot.

My Wife and I have been to lots of museums, art galleries, cultural centers, arboretums, you name it. It is something we very much enjoy doing on our travels.
Do not miss this one, it is one of the best we have ever been to.
I could wax and wane all sorts of tributes and accolades about the A-S Desert Museum, however to consolidate to a few words, GO THERE! It is very interesting, it is worth the admission price, it is worth the short drive.

The only issue to be concerned about: weather, bring water, sun screen, cool ties, wide brimmed hat, and plan to be there at the opening in the early morning to avoid self combustion in the the heat of the day.

A great walking tour of the desert awaits you!

Spent a wonderful afternoon at the open air "museum" after a short hike off the loop road in the National Park. Perfect combination of hiking and touring for a full day's adventure. Be sure to check out the Visitor Centre for the Park with its short film on the desert- well worth it.
The raptor show at the museum was top notch- close encounters with owls and hawks. Well done.
As a side note, we bought the Tucson Attractions Pass for the two of us. The two for one pass paid for itself by going to the Desert Museum alone.

Learn all about the Arizona desert up close from vegetation to wildlife. The drive out there is also definitely a sight that must be seen. It is also great that Old Tucson is right next door
