“beautiful high desert museum”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

this 'museum' is an open air display of the native ecosystem found in the area, including plants and animals--really more of a 'botanical' garden type museum than anything else. I highly recommend a visit to it

“Totally Enjoyed!”

This is more like an outdoor Zoo than a museum. In the afternoon there is a little show that they put on in the Auditorium that is well worth watching. You get to see and learn about some of the animals in Arizona up close and personal. The walking trails are easy to navigate and the cactus and plants are beautiful. I especially liked the bird sanctuary where the Hummingbirds were. It was a treat to see them in the winter! They have some very nice shops here also.

“A highlight of our trip to Tucson”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

I think that the term "museum" is somewhat misleading as applied to this attraction; it's more a zoo but what a zoo it is.
It's beautifully designed to show the inhabitants from multiple viewpoints while at the same time hiding most of the rest of the exhibits from view so that it seems like every time you turn a corner there's something else fabulous to look at.

The individual exhibits are constructed so that they look like actual habitats. The animals have plenty of room to move around and jump from level to level as appropriate.

The Museum is located close to the western section of Saguaro National Park. The whole area is quite spectacular. The road access from Tucson alone is worth the drive. Highly recommended.
