Not your typical museum. This sancuary is incredibly well laid out and facinating. We were there for nearly 5 hours enjoying the amazing flora and fauna. The raptor demonstration was the icing on the cake. Get there for the early demo, as the afternoon one is far busier.
Get up close, to a degree, to a Gila Monster, Black-tailed Rattlesnake, humming birds, and tons of other desert-dwellers.
Great food at the on-site restaurants, as well.
A highlight of this trip to the desert!

Great combination of animals and desert vegetation. Well laid out with plenty to see and do. Many volunteers help make this place a must see in Tucson.

The shows and exhibits were top notch. Went on Christmas day so there weren't as many volunteers presenting on small segments, but the ones we experienced presented new information with hands on activities.

We spent nearly the entire day walking around this zoo and gardens. The name may say it is a museum but this is not a stuffy old indoor museum. Although there are some indoor exhibits and animal shows almost everything is outdoors so you can enjoy the great weather. There are lots of desert animals to see. Make sure you get a map and know what times they have various animal shows. The bird of prey show is excellant with birds flying all around you.

We went on Christmas Day and was surprised at how many others thought it was a great idea. It was a beautiful way to exhibit the animals and their natural habitats.
