It was great seeing animals and plants in a natural setting. The park was laid out well with marked paths. It is a lot of walking but worth the effort.

The best time to visit this place is early, as soon as they open, as it gets extremely hot by the afternoon. If you're there by 9, you can tour the entire museum and be leaving by the time it's unbearably hot. It's a real treat to see the different animals in a natural habitat, and its a really nice walk and exercise. I also liked the aviary, and a bird sat right on my husband's shoulder : ) It's a very cool place to visit, and there's something for everyone!

A great intro to the area and the flora and fauna of the desert. Wear a hat and sunscreen as much of it is outdoors

I've lost track of the countless times we've visited the Desert Museum. It is one of our favorite places to visit & take our from-out-of-town visitors. It doesn't seem like a zoo/museum even though it essentially is. It definitely gives one a better appreciation & understanding of desert inhabitants and the desert landscape. Early morning is when the animals are most active. Or, if you get the chance to visit during Summer Saturday Evenings, the animals are also very active late in the evening (be sure to bring a flashlight if you go at this time). Every exhibit is pretty awesome! We always make sure to take a 10 minute break half way through the exhibit to get prickly pear lemonade at Phoebe's Coffee Bar. It is SO refreshing after being under the sun. We will definitely be going back again & again to the desert museum!
