Found this place on Tripad which was close to our hotel in Tucson. It is a large room with glass walls, not a bit like the Indian restaurants back home. The service was good as was the food which we found the most nicely spicy of our trip. It also has a good vegetarian selection (especially the Mushroom Dhupiaza).
We would definitely return if we were in the area

I absolutely LOVE Indian food. This is a modern bistro-type Indian restaurant. It is clean and has a very diverse menu. Staff is friendly and food comes out on a timely manner. However, the food is sooooo salty that it is almost inedible. The salt overpowers the true Indian flavors. A sad shame..

Saffron is a modern Indian restaurant. That means it looks like more like HiTech burrito. You would never know it was Indian until you step in the door and get hit by the smells. These are unmistakably Indian.

The food was good but not exceptional. The spicy vindaloo wasn't all that spicy despite the warnings. The curry was good but I have had better curries elsewhere. The naans were very good. So were the Lassi drinks (albeit a bit sweet). The basmati on the other hand was so-so. I can do better than that myself.

We did not try the bar, which seemed to upset our waiter. He appeared unhappy that we did not order enough expensive items. The place is not super expensive but they do charge for all the extras that other Indian restaurants give for free.

Upon entering, one is struck by the brightness and openness of the interior with lots of glass and white plates. While considering what to order, all three of us ordered a mango shake. Absolutely delicious! Also we all ordered Ragan Josh, a lamb dish. We were offered this in three degrees of spiciness: mild, medium and hot. Son and I ordered medium while wife went for mild, All later agreed, having eaten, that we had chosen well. We also had a serving of Garlic Naan bread which disappeared in no time. As for the mango shakes, our first three went down so fast that we were "forced" into having a second round. Considering the spiciness of the food, this mango shake perfectly compliments the food and far exceeds water as the appropriate drink.
