My husband and I went to Lubec, Maine in August, 2013 and as part of our visit, we went to see the West Quoddy Lighthouse. The lighthouse is a 15-minute drive from "downtown" Lubec, and is well worth the visit.

There is a visitor center, which has an extensive collection of memorabilia about the lighthouse and the area in general. The workers in the visitor center were extremely congenial and eager to answer any questions about the lighthouse.

My husband and I used one of the hiking trails to walk up to the top of the State Park, which was a wonderful experience. It took 15 minutes or so, but the views at several points were breathtaking.

If you're ever in the area, be sure to visit the West Quoddy LIghthouse.

The whole coast is beautiful and I love the history associated with the lights!

It would've been fun to go up in it, but just to see it flashing on a cloudy day was awesome.

The scenery was gorgeous from the ocean's waves to the rocky coastline to the abundant wildflowers and trees. It's a dynamic, strikingly beautiful place. Then there's that memorably iconic red and white striped lighthouse! The museum inside was informative. The gift shop offered prints and/or paintings by local Maine artists and the staff was friendly and helpful. Well worth the trip! Visitors to the lighthouse were friendly and helpful as well; some cheerfully offered to assist with photos.
RE: Bathroom facilities: only port-a-potties area available.
