“nice couples night out”

Nice view of lubec channel. Had the haddock with sweet potato fries. Enjoyed very much. Husband enjoyed to ribs which were tasty and a little on the spicy side, which was different.

“What a find”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

It has been our pleasure to have dined at this wonderfully rustic trough back restaurant several times. Imagine the best view you can think of, combined with clean, crisp fresh air, seafood just out of the briny deep, and seals splashing in the bay just below your window, and you will have The Water Street Tavern. You can dine on all your favorite Down East fare if that’s your pleasure, but be sure to check out some of the house’s more notable creations: Their MOQUECA, Brazilian Seafood Stew is a house creation combining all your favorite local seafood and coconut milk, making for a rather pleasant surprise. The menu is small by design, offering only items they feel they can do well, and fully represent the skill set of their talented chef. On our last visit, my wife had their Maine Berry Salad, a wonderful blend of fresh local greens, cheese and of course, wild blueberries; I dined on their home made mushroom raviolis, served with a rich and tasty mushroom sauce. On other occasions we have had their clams, lobster mac and cheese, lobster ravioli, broiled scallops, broiled haddock, fish and chips, Lobster roll, and cedar planked salmon. All were wonderful. Pricing is, in my view, quite modest given the standard of their cuisine in general. Their wine list, again is small, but hits the mark decidedly, making available many better wines at ordinary prices. The majority of their wait staff are local folk from the greater Lubec area, and from Campobello, New Brunswick. Did I mention that you can see Canada from their side windows or from the deck? All in, it’s a very wise choice for when you are in town. When you stop in, Look for Jim or Judy, the owners, and tell him John sent you.
We have also stayed upstairs in their Harbor Suite that has four lovely windows overlooking the seals and harbor below, and letting in marvelously cool summer ocean breezes. The rooms offer an upscale and quintessential Maine seaside experience. We will be back again and again.

A wide range of foods is offered here including Brazilian stews - all tasty. The cake servings are huge and can be shared by a whole table.

“friendly service - good food - eat outside”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

The berry salad is the best. And the desserts - berry crumble and the chocolate cake (a piece big enough for 4!) are also quite good.

“Ditto the excellent reviews....go for the stew and the chocolate cake”
Reviewed August 12, 2012 via mobile

High quality food, friendly service, a small deck with a nice view over the harbor (with a couple of seals to entertain the kids if you're lucky). Older kids can play down by the beach and stay in sight of the deck while waiting for food. watch out for the size of the chocolate cake - enough for two or even three adults so order with caution!
