“Better than we expected!”
Reviewed July 28, 2012

We just wrapped up 5 great nights at The Inn at the Wharf. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the morning yoga classes offered, a nice way to start the day. It is definitely a working wharf area, but for us, it added to the experience.

Our apartment was very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The feeling of literally being on the water added to the charm.

My wife, our friends and I just returned from 3 nights at the Inn at the Wharf and we found it to be absolutely wonderful. My friend booked the rooms and were able to get us adjoining rooms from which we could share an outside deck overlooking the dock and a sweeping view of the bay. At first I was concerned about the lack of air-conditioning...but the room was perfectly comfortable. One member of our party had limited mobility and the staff was very accomodating in ensuring his comfort and accessibility. The restaurant was outstanding!!! Food was expertly prepared...delicious, generous portions and very reasonably priced. But the very best part of our visit was the staff...from the moment we arrived until our departing breakfast when Lydia, "Honey" and Nadia came to give us a delightful sendoff. Sandy our breakfast waitress made us feel at home. Victor and Judy should be very proud of this Inn and each and every member of your staff. Highly recommended. (Oh...and the Whale Watch was cool...following around the Minke...Captain was very knowledgable and helpful.)

Room Tip: Try to get a private balcony...great to watch the sunset and the activity on the dock.

It just gets "better and better". It's every bit as good as our visit in 2011.We love visiting the area to "get away from it all". The views from the Inn are spectacular! All rooms have a view of the bay and share a common room with full kitchen and several common decks - including the deck off the restaurant. This time we met friends of ours there and had fun sharing this special, quiet experience with them. While they ventured out with a kayak from the Inn to the town-owned island close by in the bay - a good afternoon activity, we relaxed. It's a great place to "get away" and forget work! What a fabulous corner of the world to take pictures of birds, eagles, whales, ducks, boats---you name it! We enjoyed the sunset cruise and took a ton of pictures! We plan another trip next month to take my husband's parents back to visit this "Gem".

Room Tip: We love the "apartments" that have a full kitchen, two bedrooms with two full baths and pr...

Our group stayed in one of the 2 bedroom apartments for two nights. What beautiful relaxing rooms. The decor is like something out of a magazine and the view was astounding. The bed was by far the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in in a hotel and I travel a lot. There was no need for A/C as the temperature was perfect. We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The view from anywhere in the complex is phenomenal. I love lobster and the lobster rolls in the restaurant are to die for. They were by far the best we had ever eaten. A big Thumbs Up to our hosts Victor and Judy!

Our visit to the Inn at the Wharf was more than we could have expected. I have travelled from Lubec to San Diego and I haven't seen a site such as I experienced at the Wharf. The facilities are spotless, the owners and staff are friendly and courteous and where else can you watch a working Wharf from your hotel room? Whale watching from their boat is spectacular, our trip included 2 types of whales, porpoises, seals and eagles (several including a magnificent bald eagle). In addition, the whale watching trip was a sunset dinner cruise! Lubec is a fantastic place with excellent restaurants (including Fishermans Wharf at the Inn at the Wharf) and the total relaxation factor is sky high.
Can't wait for our next visit to the Wharf.

Room Tip: Apartments (2 beds, 2 baths, full kitchen etc) are unbelievable but with only 3 get your reservation...

While traveling with our friends from Calgary, Canada to Prince Edward Island, we decided to stop in Lubec to show them what downeast Maine is all about. We booked the Inn at the Wharf site unseen. When we arrived we were quiet surprised at what a gem we had found. We rented the 2 room apartment which had a full kitchen, 2 baths, and an outdoor deck to sit on. (My only complaint would be that they put out more than 2 chairs on the deck as we had to shag 2 extra chairs from the common area that surrounded the regular rooms).
The apartment was immaculate. We later read that the building used to be a sardine factory. The deck faced a working dock which was a little noisey in the morning. We had a beautiful view of the inlet that led to the ocean. The restraunt food and cocktails were delicious. I must admit the service was a little in the slow side.....The staff was very friendly and helpful with all of our needs. We did not go on the inn's boat cruise but we did take the one next door with Ralph which was breath taking. On our boat trip we saw bald eagles, dolphins, seals, and yes, we did see whales. Ralph was very good at explaining the history of the area and gave us a great trip of out $$. The very small town was a short walk for coffee, lunch, dinner and shopping. I would recommend this Inn to anyone traveling through the Lubec area. If you are traveling with children the apartment would be perfect. The price was right and the setting was just beautiful.

Room Tip: The apartment if traveling with more than one couple or children.
