“Best B&B ever”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

Peacock House is the best B&B we have ever stayed at. The house is immaculate, the breakfast excellent, and Sue and Dennis are wonderful hosts. The B&B concept is supposed to create a feeling of being a guest in someone's home, and this one comes closest to that of any. Given how much time Sue spends chatting with guests, I could not figure out how she plays the single-handed maid of all work. She is obviously a tornado who blows through the rooms while the guests are away; and probably doesn't sleep much during their 6 month season. Dennis is friendly and a charming guy when he isn't working the kitchen.

Go to this place!

Lubec is at the end of the world (well, end of the US), and is unlike the other touristy Maine coast towns. Although we got rained on, we enjoyed the laid back nature of the town. Campobello is great and very interesting to anyone who has any interest in mid-20th century history of the US. BTW, don't forget your passport to visit Campobello. Our party of 6 managed to overlook that requirement. Sue predicted that the US Customs people would cut us a little slack, and they did. Apparently their data base allows checking for passport records based on a driver's license. Not sure this would work at a less user-friendly border.

First experience with a B&B. Sue and Dennis were great. Very high energy! We stayed two nights. The first morning we had a planned excursion and had to leave very early. Sue packed a breakfast for us! Very thoughtful. House is very nice and well kept.

Try excursions to Machias Seal Island and Roosevelt International Park.

We had a wonderful experience at the Peacock House. Our room was comfortable, attractive, and spotless. Sue and Dennis are the ideal hosts. Breakfast was delicious each morning. We are looking forward to returning another year. We stayed in the Summer Room which was beautifully decorated.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The house is so nicely furnished and planned to make every guest feel at home. Our room was clean comfortable and inviting. We so enjoyed the common areas of the house and the pleasant socializing with our hosts as well as other guests. Breakfast was delicious. Information about the area, places to go and things to see as well as places to eat was provided readily. We loved the evenings visiting with Sue and Dennis. They were meant to be in this business! This was our first B&B stay and certainly set the bar high for any others we might try. But, without a doubt, we will go back to Peacock House.

This is a great B&B. It is thoughtfully cared for, clean, and very inviting. Sue and Dennis, the owners, are perfect hosts. They seem to care about their inn, the town, and their guests. The breakfasts, cooked by Dennis, are wonderful. Our room was the Peacock Suite which has a small refrigerator. It is large, airy, clean, and tastefully decorated. Everything about our 3 night stay was there was great. If you find yourself in Lubec, Maine, don't stay anywhere else.

Beautiful inn in a quintessential New England neighborhood with white-steepled churches nearby. It was great talking with Sue and Dennis served up a wonderful breakfast. There is a large living room with fireplace, sunroom and my room had been renovated very tastefully. The bed was comfortable, and everything was clean. I was fortunate to visit early in the season and had the place to myself. A great stepping off point to visit Campobello, the summer home of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, just walk around town, or visit nearby areas. Sue and Dennis are the ultimate hosts and I highly recommend Peacock House as a stop in your travels through eastern Maine.

Surprisingly great B&B within an old town with great views and outdoor activities. The owners Dennis and Sue were gracious and welcoming. They provided fine food, interesting conversations, and opened most of their beautiful rooms for their guests.
