You can't find a more beautiful hotel in this city. Centrally located to the theater, waterfire, great restaurants and shopping. Well appointed rooms complete the picture. Only concern now is with the new owners....will they be able to keep things as they were? Unfortunately, the new owners have closed The Temple restaurant...one of the many wonderful features this hotel offered.

Thank-you for your comments we appreciate your fabulous feedback. To clarify, the new owners did not close Temple Restaurant, Temple Restaurant was a proprietary concept of the previous owners, who removed all information relative to Temple when they departed. The restaurant is currently operating in the Temple space with all the same staff and managers, a new restaurant company has been contracted to retain the restaurant with a new, vibrant concept that I am sure will surpass Temple Restaurant's expectation.Keep your eye out for the press release.

What a unique property. This building was originally constructed as a Temple. Marble and stone construction in the lobby and hallways. The rooms are also well appointed, great shower and Aveda products. Our room had a great view of the RI State house

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the RI state house

Very nice rooms and restaurant. Convenient to the mall and downtown. Perfect for a Providence stay. Lots of restaurants in the immediate area. Really cool old building that has been repurposed for use as a hotel. Recommended.

This hotel is everything you look for when you are traveling a long way from home-friendly and helpful staff, clean and quiet room, great food, great workout facility. Get a view of the capital if available. Lobby is lively, concierge lounge well stocked and comfortable. A short jaunt to Providence Place. The room service food is fantastic too.

My husband and I stayed at the Renaissance for two nights in October to attend my husband's mother's wedding. We booked through Tingo.com which was really easy to do. The hotel was great from the start: beautiful lobby, friendly hotel staff, elegant comfortable hotel room. It was also clean and quiet with beautiful furnishings. I loved the bathroom decor! We didn't have breakfast included with our stay but when I inquired about breakfast in general, they gave us a pass to eat for free anyway! I will definitely stay there again.

I stayed here for a friend's wedding and found it to be great. The location is excellent - up the hill from the Providence Place Mall, across the street from the State House and attached to the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. The building itself is very old and historical and the hotel manages to keep its old charm with a fresh and clean look. Our check-in was easy and the staff was very friendly. We had a double room and the beds were comfortable. The beautiful bathroom was also a great size.

I wish Trip Advisor would allow 1/2 stars so i could give Renaissance Providence 3.5 instead of 3. Suffice to say, it doesn't warrant 4 and I will tell you why. I travel to RI 4-5x per year to see family and I flip-flop between the Westin and the Renaissance. It's akin to comparing an apple and an orange really. The Westin is so large and the Renaissance much more intimate. While i'm writing this I have to keep in mind that I had a very nice, clean room with a very nice view (room 913) for only 99$ per night. That's the good part. The not-so-good part is the fact that both mornings (48 degrees outside), the hotel had hot water issues. They did remove one nights' valet charges (28$) from my bill to soften the blow. For whatever reason though, we could hear a constant mechanical humming (like a generator) all night long. It was loud enough to be annoying and nobody could tell us where it was coming from. It wasn't the elevator; it wasn't the HVAC...i couldn't even tell if it was coming from inside the building. Regardless it was one of those things you couldn't avoid nor could you do anything about. Rather than dwell on the negative i will say that the hotel enjoys a great proximity to the Mall and everything downtown Providence. The front desk staff was professional and friendly. Temple restaurant is quite lively and very good too. Like i said, it was only 99$ per night so i thought the value was quite good for what it was. Would i spend 200$? No...anything over 149$ at Renaissance is an invitation to go back to The Westin.

Room Tip: Higher floors seem to get better views....913 had a spectacular view of The State Capital.

Thank-you for your kind comments but please allow me to apologize for the water issue during your stay. We did have a challenge with our system internally heating our water, this was an isloated incident, was rectified, but unfortunately impacted our water temperature. We do appreciate your positive comments about our location, staff and our restaurant. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to be of service again and please contact me personally on your next visit.
