We love Wickenden St. restaurants for the quirky atmosphere as much as the food. Taste of India was fine for atmosphere and service. We ordered the Chef's Combination for Two, which was good food and more than enough of it. First was a delicious, creamy red lentil soup. Next came three samosas, which was odd for a meal featured for two. The pastry shell was flaky and delicious. The filling was nondescript. Then came the rest of the meal - served in a compartmentalized metal tray. It looked like an overgrown TV dinner or maybe something from a prison. The chicken curry and lamb dishes, along with the chicken tikki were all very good. The mound of rice in the middle was done just right. And the scrumptious rice pudding was there too, along with a yogurt dressing for the nan that was served separately. There were eating utensils strategically placed in the dishes so you did not have to use the same item for the rice pudding as the chicken curry. If you can ignore the presentation, the meal was well-prepared and a good value.
