Recently I had my 1st visit to the Blue Grotto on Federal Hill in Providence, RI. My wife had been there numerous times. It was an early dinner on a Sunday and the restaurant was not crowded when we arrive without reservations. We were seated immediately and our waiter was very attentive and made some fine recommendations. The food was excellent as was the service that was quick and unobtrusive, the atmosphere is very nice and the walk to the restaurant took us by many interesting stores. We will be back.

The food was fab! and the service was so good, the waiter even gave us suggestions as to other things to do and see while we were there. Go for sunday brunch, it is the best!

I went here with my grandparents a few months ago and we were really disappointed. The decor inside is boring and dark, definitely needs updating. The food was average, two dishes - salmon and scallops - came out half cold half warmish. Probably won't waste time going back, there are so many great restaurants on Atwells.

We've eaten at several Federal Hill restaurants but had never tried Blue Grotto. The food was good, portions are on the small side, leave you wanting more. The service was okay but could have been better considering it was a Saturday night and not very busy. Salad is extra and wasn't very impressive for the price we paid. Atmosphere is nice, just not overly impressed with the meals.
