Discovered this place walking back down Westminster one night, and very glad we did. Actually part of Roots Cultural Centre for Inner City Arts. A long room that has the atmosphere of a sixties jazz joint, with seating on two levels, the upper a gallery that overlooks the dance floor and the band stage, also seating round the bar and side, front and outside areas. Admission charge when live music, which there is most nights; we listened to a great jazz set but there's also swing, funk, blues, R & B, you name it, and poetry reading and theatre Wednesdays. Very vibrant and friendly place with a wide and interesting mix of clientele; good bar with cocktails, craft beers, wine and spirits. The awesome Lisa, Cultural Director and sometime bartender, welcomed us, served us drinks ,filled us in on the history of Roots, and swapped stories about travelling round Scotland. Definitely on my agenda next visit.
