“Everything Covered!”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

Add great food, family hospitallity, with the best mixologist and what do you have.... KARTABAR!
From the warm greeting given when entering this fun yet enchanting establishment, Kartarbar has obviously covered all it's basis. There is much to be said about "first impressions".
Think about how many casual eclectic restaurants you walk into that make certain from the second you enter the door, someone will be standing there just waiting to greet you. (Not many) Kartabar not only has mastered the good old family welcome, but their menue has much to offer as well as their mixologist! Which is another unique duo that is very difficult to find in other restaurants.
On my last visit to Kartabar freinds order a little neck dish which had chourico in it. Yummy! Coming from a girl who grow up on the water with all the fresh little necks at her hand, this dish was nothing less then spectacular ~ fresh ~ & mouth watering! Making it a must try. Lots of flavor, not too spices, and great wedged garlic bread for dipping! Karatbar is also a great place for people watching. Everything is in walking distance if you choose to go for a stroll after dinner.

“Fun, but loud”
Reviewed July 14, 2011

This was not my first visit to Kartabar, but it was for my friends. In fact, we were meeting there on my recommendation. We were all thrilled by the food - the Middle Eastern specialties were great, as was the "Barcelona Shrimp" (shrimp with chorizo in a wonderful broth just meant for dipping crusty bread into!). The only issue is that it can be hard to hear conversation above the background noise. There were only 3 of us at the table, but I found that we had to lean in to be able to hear each other. So I wouldn't recommend this for a quiet, romantic dinner or for a business dinner, but I would recommend it for a casual evening with friends or family.

The only other issue is parking - it's always difficult in the Thayer Street area, so be prepared to drive around looking for a parking place.

Great for lunch... nice variety of salads and sandwiches. Seems a little more trendy in the evening.
