I would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Providence. We only had the night in the city and it was a great way to experience the sites and the history of the Brown university district, which looks beautiful by night. Our tour guide Erin was fantastic - friendly and informative. Unlike other ghost tours I've been on which can be over the top and a little uncomfortable walking around with a 'character', this tour was much more friendly and informative. Good mix of creepy buildings and stories, without being too scary that you won't sleep at night! Definitely recommend!!

The Providence Ghost Tour is an excellent way to explore and learn about the oldest part of Providence city. Steeped in rich history and featuring the tales of many notable Providence figures, this tour takes visitors around the Brown University campus with pit stops at a RISD building, H. P. Lovecraft’s house and the Providence Athenaeum.

There are no spooky fingers or sudden scare tactics! Rather the tour focuses on stories curated through historical research and discussions with locals who work in or around the places that are featured. My tour guide Elise was witty and knowledgeable and tried to answer all our questions as best as she could.

As the tour website clearly states, it takes about 90 minutes, there are no bathroom stops and there are a few uphill hikes. So make sure to wear sturdy shoes and pee before you join!

We felt the tour was good-to-great. We covered homes throughout several time periods, on Brown University grounds and beyond.

The tour guide nailed the entire trip, rarely stumbled through her presentations and even occasionally made it theatrical. The history was great. Felt the price was well worth the cost ... yes, it is hilly, yes the path occasionally uneven. No big deal though.

The tour we attended was large, and unfortunately, included some younger adults that tended to talk in groups which distracted from the tour guide's narrations. The sidewalks and streets around Brown University, where most of the tour was conducted, were uneven and sometimes steep. You will need a good pair of shoes and I recommend a flashlight as some areas were not well lit to see the surface where you are walking. The tour guide was informative, but needed a little more projection in her delivery and tended to fade at the end of the story when she delivered the punch line.

Great history, ghost mix. I can say that at least one of the places we visited made me feel watched and made the hairs on my body stick out with intense goosebumps. Great city, nice walk, nice stories.. Why not? Do it!
