Owner description: WaterFire Providence is an independent, non-profit arts organization whose mission is to inspire Providence and its visitors by revitalizing the urban experience, fostering community engagement and creatively transforming the city by presenting WaterFire for all to enjoy. This award-winning sculpture by Barnaby Evans installed on the three rivers of downtown Providence, has been praised by Rhode Island residents and international visitors alike as a powerful work of art and a moving symbol of Providence’s renaissance. WaterFire’s over eighty sparkling bonfires, the fragrant scent of aromatic wood smoke, the flickering firelight on the arched bridges, the silhouettes of the firetenders passing by the flames, the torch-lit vessels traveling down the river, and the enchanting music from around the world engage all the senses and emotions of those who stroll the paths of Waterplace Park. WaterFire has captured the imagination of over ten million visitors, bringing life to downtown, and revitalizing Rhode Island’s capital city.

“Can't go enough !”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

Simply one of the most amazing events you can share with someone, particularly if they've never been. The waterfire is just the backdrop for a constantly changing event depending on the night & the crowd as you walk the whole length of it, don't miss it !

“A cool thing to do in the summer”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

It's free and draws a very large crowd. The Waterfires take place right in the middle of 3 colleges so needless to say, it's very crowded. Almost impossible to get a parking place. If you can, take the RIPA bus from a nearby town like East Providence and you will get dropped off very close by. But it's a very cool atmosphere, there are performers and vendors of all kinds. Providence is known for it's Italian cuisine so be sure to try some of the pastrys offered. A fun evening for all ages. Just be careful where you walk, the sidewalks have some bumps and breaks in them.

“Lots of fun!”

Best thing in Providence since they made the mistake of getting rid of the Jack-O Lantern Spectacular at Roger Williams Park. WaterFire is a great place to spend the evening and then have dinner afterwards. Of course as long as it doesn't rain because it is all outside.

What a great experience to share with someone special, we've always enjoyed making a night on the town to see waterfire. There are numerous restaurants you can make a reservation to and enjoy waterfire while you eat.
