Owner description: WaterFire Providence is an independent, non-profit arts organization whose mission is to inspire Providence and its visitors by revitalizing the urban experience, fostering community engagement and creatively transforming the city by presenting WaterFire for all to enjoy. This award-winning sculpture by Barnaby Evans installed on the three rivers of downtown Providence, has been praised by Rhode Island residents and international visitors alike as a powerful work of art and a moving symbol of Providence’s renaissance. WaterFire’s over eighty sparkling bonfires, the fragrant scent of aromatic wood smoke, the flickering firelight on the arched bridges, the silhouettes of the firetenders passing by the flames, the torch-lit vessels traveling down the river, and the enchanting music from around the world engage all the senses and emotions of those who stroll the paths of Waterplace Park. WaterFire has captured the imagination of over ten million visitors, bringing life to downtown, and revitalizing Rhode Island’s capital city.

“A Sensory Experience of East Meets West Basic Elements Meet Manmade”

A lovely exhibition - particularly if you have mastered the "mindfulness" skill of living in the moment. Fire is truly a wonderful element that is masterfully used to create a wonderful experience for the eyes, nose and skin. The collection of music, of course, a delight for the ears.

“Kids love it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

We go to WaterFire every year and the kids still love it. This year we stayed at the Westin and made a long weekend of it. We love going out for dinner and then walking around, listening to the music and enjoying the simple, but unique attraction. Make a weekend of it, Scarborough Beach is only a half hour away and the mall, which is connected to the Westin by a bridge, is very nice too.

“Went for a one time experience- not disappointed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

Great experience. Enjoyed the music, the crowds and boats lighting the fires. Lots of food stalls down the street. As you might expect, food prices are high, but worth it for a one time WaterFire experience.

“Amazing, just beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

I love the atmosphere and the warmth, it's just beautiful. Lots of vendors, and places to sit and just enjoy the Fire. The buildings around the Waterford are also beautiful and well Lit, which brings more decor to the surroundings and the event.

“Amazing !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

We were on a girls trip and we did a gondola ride to coincide with the lighting on October 6 which was in honor of breast cancer ! Even though it was drizzling and it was a little damp , the lighting , the music, the crackle of the fires , it truly is beautiful . If you get the chance to view this ,please do,it was an unforgettable experience .! If I get the chance , I would definitely go again . It has to be just as nice to view it from the shoreline as it was being in the water !!
