Owner description: This innovative and internationally renowned museum showcases more than 80,000 works of art from Paul Revere's silver and caricatures of 18th century Europe, to French Impressionists and the avant-garde works of recent alumni. The RISD Museum is a great place to quickly see an eclectic mix of traditional art and other mediums. There is the added bonus of pieces on display by current students. Nice way to spend some time and support the arts.

I live in Providence and have visited museums in Boston, NY, Philadelphia, and Paris. I consider it an incredible treat to have this Museum in walking distance of my home. We really enjoy going there in the winter when cabin fever sets in and we don't want to travel to far for some culture. It is a beautiful gem in a small city. The collections are amazing for a small place. If you enjoy museums and are in Providence for a visit this is a must see place.

Nicely displayed paintings, furniture, silver, etc. Early American to modern. Useful descriptions. A good place to spend 1-3 hours when visiting Providence. Stop at the student exhibit too for some creative pieces.

Very well laid out and wide variety of displays. There were 4 seniors in our party and we thoroughly enjoyed the museum. We plan to return on our next trip to Providence.

Blown away by the collection and curating. I've only seen this caliber in European galleries and maybe the museum in Philly. The "Making it in America" exhibit was very well done too. Incredible - will definitely be back when in RI again!
