Amazing collection. The museum is big with galleries dedicated to different periods and themes, however it's very easy to navigate.

Been here multiple times when we visit family and have never been disappointed. Permanent collection small but generally high quality. They often mount special exhibitions that are really very instructive. For example, they had a engraving, etching, drawing exhibition of old masters a couple of years ago that was nearly as good as the Rembrandt et al. graphics exhibition that is currently on offer (late April, 2013) at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco. Highly recommend a visit here!

I don't do museums often (I tend to glaze over after viewing too many rooms in a museum), but I love the RISD Museum. It's the perfect size for me not to be overwhelmed, and the pieces are very thoughtfully displayed. The Dale Chihuly glass exhibit is fantastic and was a major draw for my last visit. It's definitely worth a wander, even if you're not a 'museum person'.

I was astounded to find the big name artists in this collection. You will see painters from Rothko to Monet to Picasso and everyone in between. This museum is a must see.

This museum is inexpensive, but has a very interesting, diverse collection. It isn't crowded, and things are nicely set up and accessible.
