“Enjoyed Our Stay at The Stanley Hotel”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

I took my husband to The Stanley Hotel for his birthday. He had always wanted to go but I wouldn't because of the hotel being haunted. But I finally gave in and was interested to see what went on up there! First, the hotel is gorgeous and the views are amazing. The service by all staff was excellent. The room we stayed in was small but very clean and had an awesome view of the lake and the mountains. Very peaceful. We did go on the Ghost Tour and it was the highlight of our trip. We encountered many ghosts and were blown away by all the activity and things that they did to show us they were there! It's a don't miss especially with "Scary Mary" as your tour guide. She was awesome! We highly recommend this hotel if you are into the paranormal.

Room Tip: You should know...the kid ghosts like to play on the 4th floor where our room was and they kept us u...

My husband and I stayed at The Stanley in November 2013 while spending a week driving through the state. After learning about it's history, we decided that we really wanted to stay there for a night. We were able to upgrade our room to a larger one with a jacuzzi tub for an additional $5. The room itself was great, although the television didn't work. This wasn't a big issue though because we weren't in the room a whole lot. The whiskey bar had great drinks and the view from our room was great! The hotel was very clean and the staff were polite and helpful.

We encountered Miss Jenny Rodin during our breakfast in the morning we were leaving the Stanley. She is BY far the most informative, pleasant helpful employee we encountered at your hotel. She should be in a management position....What a delight.

We stayed at The Stanley in September 2013. This hotel is beautiful and grand and has a fantastic history, as well as a few resident ghosts! Very close to the town, and not too far from the National park (Although we didnt get to go due to the government strike).Would higly reccomend the ghost tour. The Food in the resturant is great, best meatloaf ever! It also has a fantastic bar. The setting is idylliac, lots of wild elk, and deer.

Having said this, we did have some problems! The first rooms we were checked into were not great. Our room was covered in dog hair, even on the bed which presumably had been changed. My in laws, were given the keys to a room that was actually being refurbished and covered in dust sheets and paint. So as you can imagine, we were not super happy! They did however move us into one of the lodges (which lovely as it was, wasnt very clean), and credited our account for spending in the resturant. So all was resolved!

All in all, the location, building, and history makes for an amazing stay, but I do feel that housekeeping could be improved. Nether the less I would highly reccomend.

Always wanted to stay here, so my wife had a Sales meeting in Denver, so I booked the Hotel at a Super price, and we drove up on Friday night and even the short stay was wonderful Hotel is Historic, old and interesting. The bathtub was a little dated, but everything worked so it just added to the charm and character of the room. The restaurant was great for breakfast, but reservations are recommended. The Hotel also has a Cafe/pastry shop downstairs which is excellent for a quick picker upper. We enjoyed our short stay and will be back. The Hotel Staff is excellent and friendly. Yes, they say it's haunted, but we slept well and had a great time....

We came for a weekend getaway and to stay in the historic Stanley Hotel. The Lodge offered you larger rooms but we opted to stay in the old part of the hotel. Rooms are small but comfortable. Some nights it took a while for the water to heat up, but that is to be expected when you stay in a hotel this old! It was beautiful and the staff was very helpful. Cascades and the Whiskey bar did not disappoint and Table was fabulous! Met some great people who helped make our experience there very memorable. We loved it and will definitely be back!

My husband and I checked in to spend a night "away" in Estes and wanted to stay at the Stanley after seeing the front of it in The Shining. Finding the lobby was a challenge after making a couple of wrong turns - but once we found it the hotel is old, antiqued, and charming. The hotel was not packed with people, and the lobby had cheery fires burning where people were sitting in big overstuffed chairs relaxing. We signed up for the Hotel Tour (or Ghost Tour) that evening. We staid in Room 224 - a nicely updated room. My husband was happy it had a stand fan in the room to block out noise. One problem i saw early on was that I could see a slot in the hallway from where the bottom of our door wasn't meeting up with the frame. I'm a bit paranoid so we put a pillow in front of the door all night.

The ghost tour was fun and it was interesting getting to see some different rooms in the hotel, and hear some fun ghost stories. There were plenty of opportunities to take pictures! The next morning we had a quick breakfast downstairs in the cafe. We both had hot chai teas, he had a breakfast bagel and I had a spinach and cheese croissant. It was all delicious, but rang in at $18. Our room was $214 - a little high priced, but we willingly paid it for our night together. We both agreed we would stay here again!
