Wonderful Stay

Review of Ponderosa Lodge
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 22, 2020via mobile
We have loved our stay here. We booked the economy room and have enjoyed it. This place is on the road straight to town and the Rocky Mtn Natl Park. My husband was able to do some fly fishing in their stream and there are chairs and a patio for everyone to enjoy. The shower has excellent pressure and hot water. This place is not a luxury suite at the Four Seasons but it is a great place to rest after a long day of hiking and fishing. The staff has been great and no problems with check in. Also, this place is reasonably priced. There is no AC in the room but it stays a constant 72-73. A small fan would be a great item to pack if you like it a bit cooler. There is a mini fridge, a microwave, and a coffee pot which come in very handy. I have weak ATT service but their internet has been great. Overall, this place is cozy and comfortable.

We then went to our room which smelled slightly of urine opened windows to relieve smell back screen on sliding door was broken and it took two people to open plugged in charger and none of the outlets worked went to the office to tell them once again rudeness when the man finally came to the room screamed at me i should be ashamed for being so rude then stated its probably just a breaker my husband packed the car when he came back we told him we would find another place to say he screamed at my husband that your wife is just a b... in front of many guest would really think twice before staying here

Josh is just a super cool people person with a great attitude. This is our second 3 day stay with the Ponderosa in 3 years. Both have been fantastic! The river rushing by our window through the night is so soothing. Our deck overlooked it and it's like home. I jumped off the smaller rock into the river. It was a blastie!

Room tip: Room 13 is the best.

Checkin was very easy after hours. Our room was cozy. I liked being right next to the river and so close to the Rocky Mountain National Park. The pull out couch bed is just that. I could have used an extra pillow so it would have been great if there was a couple in the closet. Overall though we liked our stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! My husband and I were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and had stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast at Eldora Lodge to begin our weekend. The next day we decided to take the Peak to Peak Hwy to Estes Park. Hotel rooms were few and far between so we pulled into the Ponderosa Lodge to see if we could book a cabin there. It seemed like another beautiful place to stay. The manager seemed nice as he congratulated us on our anniversary and told us he could give us a discount on our room. WRONG! We were actually overcharged for the price he quoted us when we saw our room charge a couple of days later. The first indication that this place was a joke was that he gave us the wrong key to our cabin and my husband had to make another trip to the office to exchange keys. When we finally checked in the place smelled like urine so we immediately opened every window to air the place out! The carpet was stained, one bedroom had a vacumn cleaner left in the middle of the floor and we weren't sure if we should even sit on the outdated furniture. There was also no WiFi at this place so we couldn't even look at the reviews of this place. If we had read the previous reviews we would have NEVER stayed here! We were looking forward to using the hot tub but that was out of commission as well. We then decided to just relax and watch tv but as we were watching tv a mouse ran across the floor and over the top of my husband's feet. Now we knew why this cabin smelled of urine! We were both horrified and disgusted at the filthiness of this place and immediately began to pack up our things. We couldn't get out of this place fast enough. We were not able to contact the management so we put our key in the drop box and left to drive back home. The worst end to an anniversary celebration ever!! The next day when we finally contacted the management he was extremely rude and told my husband that Estes Park has a problem with mice and there's nothing they can do about it. He also refused to give us our money back or any discount.

Room tip: Do not stay in the cabin on the hill!

DO NOT STAY OR TRY TO BOOK HERE!!! The employee at the front desk called me a dickless bitch for asking for confirmation on a cancelation. Took over a month to get a hold of them after emails and calls and when we finally got a hold of them, we were greeted with the absolute worst customer service agent I have ever Experienced. Emails we sent to cancel (at their request) from March 20th haven't even been opened or read. He exclaimed we should just check our bank account and take them to small claims court if it wasn't cancelled. Please, do not support this awful place and their employees. The fact that this guy still has a job after all the other reviews is astonishing. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BEHAVIOR! This is just a big scam. Booking online is just to get your account information. You will not be able to get a hold of them to cancel, and if you do, you'll be screamed at the same as I was for having common sense and asking for confirmation that we will not be charged. This is your warning. Booking at this establishment will only cause you headaches and problems. They are counting on people just giving up and not doing anything about it. We plan to file suit as this conversation was recorded
