“2 blocks from downtown and cleanest rooms”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Great place to stay. Walking distance to town so you don't have to worry about parking. Rooms are cleaner than most you'll find anywhere and the staff makes you feel like they know you. I would highly recommend this place over the others we have stayed at in Estes park

Thank you for your review! Our location is hard to beat, 2 blocks from downtown and only 3 1/2 miles from an entrance into Rocky Mountain National Park. We love visiting with guests and hearing about their wonderful adventures and stories. We are looking forward to you returning and staying with us again.

I was very impressed with Murphy's River Lodge. Although it was a roadside motel, it was a great experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the beds were some the most comfortable in any hotel I've ever stayed at -- much better then Hiltons, Hyatt's, Marriott, ext). I would go back again without thinking twice.

We originally went to Estes Park for a wedding. The wedding was further out and we wanted to stay closer to the shopping and stuff to do. I researched and found this place. It was 2 blocks walking to the downtown area. The parking was a mess to park anywhere downtown on the weekends. Good thing we could park at the hotel. The room was super cute on the second floor and the view was amazing. It is worth it to pay a little more for the river stream. We opened the windows and listened to the strong stream the entire time. If you get the river view you can see the mountains behind it. Close to town with shopping and restaurants, great views, clean, free breakfast, Fall River sounds, and mountain views. Four miles from the Rocky Mountain park entrance. Great place I would recommend this!!

Room Tip: River front rooms are worth the extra pay

Thank you so much for your review! I am glad you were able to get a RIVER ROOM. The sound of the rushing water is great to help relax and fall asleep to. I hope you return soon to visit us again!

This is one of the best places we've stayed in Estes, and we've stayed in several. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and have everything you could need. It was nice to be able to walk into town and not have the hassle of parking. It was a great experience, and we will definitely be back!

Estes Park is the best base for exploring the Eastern site of the Rocky Mountains National Park in Colorado - a stunning area for walking, driving, spotting elks and moose and, if you are up to it, climbing massive mountains. However, the majesty of the national park is not reflected in the rather tacky town of Estes Park. A line of sweet shops, souvenir stalls and even places selling Christmas junk in the middle of summer.

So the fact that Murphy's is rather on the edge of town (but still very easy walking distance) is not a bad thing. Rooms were comfortable, friendly reception - all OK.

Next door is the Big Horn bar and diner, a great place for breakfast. While you are eating they will make you a huge sandwich (one between two is fine for a UK appetite) for your picnic lunch. Good fun. Eating out in the evenings is a bit hit and miss. We had a good dinner at a riverside Italian Mama Rose, and one good and one indifferent meal at Wild Rose.

Don't miss driving up the Old Falls River Road a few miles into the national park.

Room Tip: Some reviewers say go for a room overlooking the river - but actually it doesn't make a lot of d...

Thank you for your review! Our location is among one of the best in town. 3 1/2 miles from an entrance into Rocky Mountain National Park and yet two blocks from all the shops. Estes Park has long been a destination for visitors seeking clear skies, fresh air, outdoor activities, and beautiful scenery. Our shops allow visitors to be able to buy a souvenir to have along with their memories. Three million tourists visit Rocky Mountain National Park each year; most use Estes Park as their base. The City of Estes Park accommodates all these visitors by working very hard to keep our street exceptionally clean and trimmed with beautiful flowers and plants. Estes Park provides entertainment and activities for visitors to enjoy all summer long.

The entire staff at Murphy’s River Lodge is extremely friendly from the second you walk in the door. Any questions you have about Estes Park they can answer, and it’s like asking your best friend their opinion, you’ll get a real answer of the best unknown places rather than just a suggestion of the top tourist places.
When you get to your room you’ll be amazed at how comfortable the room is. The rooms here really do feel like a relaxing resort get away instead of some hotel/motel room. The beds are AMAZINGLY SOFT and the pillows somehow remain cool all night long.
When you go to the continental breakfast in the morning you’ll be greeted by their friendly staff and if you want to you could talk to them all day long as if they are your best friend. As far as continental breakfasts go, this is top of the line and you won’t have to head back to your room thinking, “where should we get breakfast”, because you couldn’t find something that you wanted.
The location is perfectly nestled just past old town Fort Collins to the west against the meandering river. Most of the rooms back to the river and provide a tranquil running water sound while you sleep. Make sure and ask for a room along the river if you love the sound of cascading water and you won’t be disappointed. The location of Murphy’s River Lodge is perfect; only a couple blocks from downtown Estes or to the O’Dell’s Horseback Riding Stables. Though only a couple blocks from downtown you’d think that the traffic would be bad by the resort, but there is hardly any traffic that goes west of old town so the traffic is comparable to a random country/mountain road.
All-in-all, if you stay at Murphy’s River Lodge there will be no other place in Estes Park that you’ll ever want to stay at again.

Room Tip: When booking ask for a room next to the river in the summer and with a fireplace in the winter.

Stayed here for 4 days starting 8/5/13. Helpful friendly staff, clean comfortable room and a perfect location for easy walk to town and drive to the park. Would have gave it 4 stars but the room seriously lacked lighting. If you plan to read in the room bring a reading light.

Room Tip: Second floor in quieter

Thank you for your review. Thank you for the suggestion of more lights in the rooms, I will take it into consideration. We have been changing from the clear light bulbs to an energy saving soft white bulbs because guest have expressed that they like the soft relaxing atmosphere of our rooms. Most of our rooms have a desk with a desk lamp and lamps on every nightstand. Our upper River condo, which is our largest rooms also has a floor lamp. We try to use clear light bulbs only above the vanity Mirrors in the bathrooms. I will make sure we have extra lamps ready upon request.
