“Perfect Stay in the Colorado Mountains”
Reviewed November 6, 2011

My husband and I recently stayed at this lovely lodge located just two blocks from the town of Estes Park and a very short drive to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Our room was large with a view of the mountains and the rippling river. It had a balcony over looking the river, a free standing fire place, small refrigerator and microwave, and a coffee pot and coffee set up. Everything in the room seemed new. The bathroom was standard but adequate. The complimentary breakfast was supposed to "continental" but it offered a selection of hot and cold cereal, fresh fruit, juice, and hard boiled eggs in addition to the standard rolls, bagels and muffins.

And best of all was the friendly and helpful staff. From the start the staff went out of its way to be helpful, offering discount coupons to restaraunts. Then in the morning the staff member at breakfast had been a guide in the Rocky Mountain National Park and he wrote out suggestions as to where to go in the park and how to get around in the park; this was extremely helpful. As it was off season, we were also offered the opportunity to stay well beyond check out time. Finally, we were given mugs as a rememberance of our stay.

We would definitely stay there again.

Our church group was looking for the perfect place to spend a weekend refreshing together. We decided on Murphy's River Lodge and were very glad we did! Upon arriving we settled in to find rooms that were completely remodeled, flat screen t.v.'s, updated bathrooms and very comfortable beds. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. Each morning we enjoyed the continental breakfast and playing boardgames as a family, my wife and I have two sons, 6 & 5 yrs. old. The short walks into Estes Park were beautiful, we even caught a glimpse of some wildlife on one of our walks. The heated pool and hot tub were super fun and a great place for fellowship as a group. I would highly recommend Murphy's River Lodge to friends and family looking for a special getaway. Our oldest son was so sad we had to leave, we promised we would be back before long!

My wife and I treated ourselves to a birthday trip to Colorado. We stayed at Murphys and are an older couple so we have a hard time finding comfortable beds but we were shocked at the amazing quality of sleep we got in the comfy beds and warm comforters with the down pillows.
The staff is so friendly. They couldn't have been any nicer. Our room was so clean, we had a fireplace in our room. It was just the most wonderful time. The river right behind our room was just beautiful. I would recommend this place to anybody. The staff took the time to tell us all of the places that would be places of interest for us and explained how to get there. Bruce and Loretta are two of the nicest people we have ever met. Thank you for helping us have such an enjoyable trip! We'll see you again next fall. Oh, and if you want to see Elk, if you don't see some outside the Lodge, you can go right down the road and find alot of them. We got some great pictures!

Room Tip: Depends on if you want a jacuzzi in your room (there's kind of a couples room) or if you're...

We decided to stay at Murphys based on the positive reviews posted on Trip Advisor and it couldn't have worked out better. Stayed in a very spacious, upgraded room with a view of the mountains and a deck overlooking the river. Worked out great for a family of four and having breakfast and the pool on site was just perfect for the kids. It was also just a few block walk to downtown and a short drive to either entrance of RMNP. Thank you for a great stay.

I stayed here with my two daughters (age 12 and 8) for two nights. The service was really friendly. We were offered a room upgrade and discount vouchers for dinner as well as advice on which of the outdoor activity providers were really good.

The beds were just how I like them, nice and firm and King Size. The decor was simple and recently updated. The ambience with the river running out the back door was great.

We were caught in a snow storm on the first night, so woke to find everything covered in 15 inches of snow. The owners were very helpful in helping us to extract our car.

Indoor heated pool and spa were excellent.

Breakfast was a simple continental which was just what we needed, but most importantly were had friendly chats with the owners and staff, that helped our day off to a great start each day.

Room Tip: Ground floor, near the river was great, walked out the back door onto a little patio and the river w...

My wife and I stayed at Murphy's River Lodge to celebrate our 30th anniversary from October 21 trhrough October 24 ,2011 and enjoyed every bit of the experience. The room we stayed in was recently remodeled as all the rooms are I understand from visiting with some of the staff. The room was great and the view was awsome. We were right beside the river and could walk out the back door and were within feet of the river. One evening we had deer drinking from the river within 30 yards of the back door, very cool. The location of the lodge is also a plus. We were about two blocks from the dowtown shops so you could just walk down there to shop. This is great because when it is busy in the downtown area it is hard to find parking. The staff at the lodge were all very pleasant and friendly. If you are headed to Estes Park, CO I highly recommend you stay at Murphy's River Lodge.
