We landed here after being displaced by the historic flood. The good: we parked for a few days at a Denver Marriott to wait out FEMA. Then started calling lodges, cabins, seeing who was open. Jim was the first guy to call back, from Valhalla. He emailed me directions, open restaurants, etc. if he isn't the owner he certainly will own one in the future. Sharp guy. My other comments would be this property has good views. Some describe it as rustic, I'd say it's dated. We stayed in cabin 19. Fenced back yard, and a killer wood burning fireplace. King bed very comfortable. Elk bugling 40 feet away. It's an 8.5 inside. If I owned Valhalla I'd go thru each cabin and update them, pave the roads, do some rocky Mtn landscaping. But they are clean, it is Estes Park, you are 5 minutes from RMNP, and if you get Jim on the phone, you can take what he says to the bank.

Room Tip: Cabin 19, fireplace going, window cracked to hear the Elk bugling was all good.

Our second stay at Valhalla. Last year, we vacationed with adult son & his partner. This year my husband and I vacationed. The positive points: reasonable price, clean & practical, quiet setting. We hike a lot while on vacation so we aren't looking for ultra luxury, we want a clean, user-friendly space with comfortable beds, hot showers, a place to rest, eat, and get clean. That is what we've found at Valhalla. The beds & pillows were comfy. The water has always been hot, the bathrooms are clean, in good working order & there are plenty of nice towels. The kitchens are clean, organized well and equipped for most all common cooking needs & the equipment works. The staff is courteous and helpful. I would definitely return, and in fact, we are trying to schedule a time when both our adult children can return next summer. We plan to rent at Valhalla at that time. Oh, negatives- not really much to say. The cabin this year could have used more light in the kitchen. Even after the very courteous & helpful staff member added a light bulb, it was a little dark. Hardly worth mentioning.

Room Tip: We stayed in Cabin 19 this year. Large 1BR with king size bed and hot tub. Last year, I think we sta...

We came to Valhalla because the cabin we rented down the road was flooded during the torrential rains in September, 2013. Our unit at Valhalla is beautiful! All we could say when coming in was "wow". THe kitchen is huge and well stocked. The unit was spotless. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We are extremely pleased!

First stayed at this resort in 1977. Cabins seem just as nice as 35 years ago. New owners will do everything to please. Just ask. You can't beat the location. Just three miles to either Estes Park or the National Park entrance. Yet, the resort is secluded and quiet. You feel as if you could be deep in the mountains. Cook a steak on your deck or eat at one of the great restaurants in town. That could be the hardest decision of the day. This is the place to enjoy the park and relax.

There is something about Estes Park! This was our first visit to the town (thanks to a college friends' wedding) but it will not be our last. Even though we were there for a wedding, we were able to enjoy many of the town's highlights including the butterfly release at the Stanley (first Monday of each month), the Air Tramway (on it's LAST run of the year!), the "best doughnuts in the world" from The Donut Haus (get there before 10am or you're out of luck!) and of course, the beauty of Rocky Mt. National Park (via Old Fall River Road) with a blissful stop at the Alluvial Fan. I should mention that the free town shuttle picks up right at the entrance of the resort.

To top things off, we stayed in Cabin #7 at Valhalla Resort. When booking, I didn't realize it was right next to the playground, swimming pool, mini-golf course, rec room and basketball court! What a great surprise :) Our kids played each day and even joined up with other kids visiting. These features are not new by any means but ask my kids if they care!? I'm sure their memory is that they played mini-golf with a group of other kids in the great outdoor surrounded by mountains!! They can't do that everyday! And we could see them at all times from the comfort of our front porch.

The cabin was perfect for our group. Everyone commented on how clean the cabin was. In a cabin in the mountains one might expect to see a bug (dead or alive) here or there. NOT the case! Yes, it was warm (it's August!) but thankfully our cabin had two box fans which helped to cool things down. And the evening breeze is perfection.

One night, we heard a loud, freaky noise outside. Scary at first but in an instant we realized a bugling elk was nearby! We practically ran over each other to try to get a look. It was pitch black outside but just as we walked out, a car passed by and shone it's headlights on a gigantic, male elk! So so so cool.

Oh, and an entrance to RMNP is RIGHT behind the resort. How great is that??

As we left the resort, I committed to encouraging everyone to visit this resort. So here goes....VISIT THIS TOWN AND STAY AT VALHALLA RESORT!

Room Tip: Cabin #7 is one of the first cabins on property and close to all the fun kid activities.

We've been staying at Valhalla for about twenty years...not every year, but every few...and each time we arrive, it's like coming home. We've stayed in several cabins, depending on the number of people in our party, and all have been clean, comfortable and accommodating. Valhalla is set back from the "main drag" of Estes Park so you really have that feeling of solitude and peace...unless, of course, you're by the pool/activity area and even then the noise level is not disturbing. Valhalla is close to town so you can zip down the street to go to a great restaurant or pick up groceries so you can cook in (love the well-appointed kitchens!). The entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is close by too, which is nice for those of us who like to be on the hiking trails early. The ownership changed recently and the transition is seamless...the same caring and attentive service we always enjoyed.

We had a small reunion at Valhalla and the kids at the reunion were all 6 years old. They loved the playground, the shuffleboard and the room that had ping pong, etc. The setting was beautiful and close enough to town that it was not a pain if you had to go get some groceries or wanted to do some shopping. The cabins were clean, but a bit rustic - which was part of the charm. The pool was a bit too cold, so we did not stay in long. Overall, Valhalla worked well for our purposes.

Room Tip: We liked the cabin by the playground (our friends were in that one - I think it was #7) as we could...
