“Cabin 6 for entertained kids and happy parents!”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

We stayed at Valhalla July 4th weekend. This was our 3rd trip to Estes, but first with our kids, ages 6 and 10, so I extensively researched every "family friendly" place to stay, and Valhalla came out on top. My husband and I were so glad we booked here. This is the kind of place that I remember going to on vacations as a kid. Aside from checking out a couple of (free) dvd's from the office one night, the tv, video games, and the like sat silent all week. My boys were just too busy playing shuffleboard, ping pong, mini-golf, tetherball, swimming, climbing on the playground, or riding their bikes. We live in a busy city, so they *loved* the quiet and open spaces to run around with no traffic or noise. Bonus was the 100+ elk herd that wandered through on our last day. Amazing to see!

We stayed in Cabin 6, which I found perfect for us. This cabin is located directly across from the pool and game room, with a view of all the activities, so you can take a break on the deck and still watch the kids play. I've read complaints on other reviews that the cabins are outdated, and in some ways, they are. However: our cabin was spotless, came with everything we needed for the week (fully equipped kitchen), and you cannot beat the price for what you're getting. On their site, they describe cabin 6 as "small" but if you check the square footage, it's actually larger than some of the "medium" sized cabins. Kitchen and living room are open plan, which I loved, and good-sized bathroom with a tub. Bedrooms are very tiny (really, only fit the bed) but we only slept in them at night, so not an issue. Huge deck, parking for 2 cars. We came during the wildfires, so a fire ban was in place, including charcoal grills. When we arrived there was a gas grill on our deck that looked new. Very thoughtful of the owners.

What more can I say? This is the most detailed review I've written on tripadvisor, but with everything to do in town and the Park, and Valhalla, my kids are dying to go back. We take a family vacation somewhere new every year for the past 10 years, but this will probably be the one place we return to next summer. We were that pleased.

Room Tip: Loved cabin 6! Works for young family of 4. Kids share the double-sized bed, or one sleeps on the co...

Have stayed at Valhalla many times over the years, in various cabins. Cabins are slightly dated, but oh so clean, and that just adds to the rustic feel! The kids enjoy the nice pool and game room with ping pong, etc. There's a hot tub you can "sign up" to enjoy. Love the proximity to RMNP.

Valhalla Resort is the perfect place to stay to enjoy Rocky Mountain National Park and the charming and fun-filled town of Estes Park. Our cabin (#23) was spotless, spacious and had EVERYTHING we could possibly need for our stay! My kids loved the pool, tether ball and ping-pong (so did I). The resort is conveniently located close to town, but off the main road; so it is quiet and peaceful. The owner's and their staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely return!

This is our second year at Valhalla. We go so we can hike the parks and enjoy the local towns. We haven't done much on the property. There is a pool, hot tub, game room, etc. but we haven't used those. I did do laundry and it was nice to be able to watch a movie in the game room while washing clothes. The cabins are extremely clean and the area is quiet and relaxing. They replace towels during the week and take out the trash. Our cabin was stocked well with dishes, pots and pans. If there was anything extra I needed, like a blender, I just checked it out at the office.

We had a wonderful time staying there, plenty to do on site, as well as being right around the corner from Rocky Mtn. National Park entrance, or a mile further is downtown Estes.

Used to always stay at the YMCA as a child, I like the close connection Valhalla has to Estes Park itself. But the staff was very helpful and generous, if any needs need to be met, just give them a call. That's all I did, and they met my requests open-handed.

Thank you again for a great stay, and vacation.

Room Tip: Look ahead of time! I was on summer vacation, so somewhat limited availability during high tourist...

This is the 2nd year we stayed at Valhalla and it was just as clean as we can remember, We stayed from June 24 to July 1. They made sure we had clean towels and our trash was emptied at the same time. The resort if off of the road just enough to where you don't hear the traffic at all, just hummingbirds and wildlife. We'll be back next year.....

We stayed in Cabin 26 for a very enjoyable week. Proximity to town made it convenient to stay around Estes Park the first day while we acclimated to the altitude, coming from sea level. The resort and surrounding properties back up onto RMNP so wildlife viewing is common. Banded squirrels and chipmunks are far and away the most abundant critters. The location gives easy access to RMNP and the 3 main roads in the area. We really appreciated the nicely equipped kitchen and grill and were able to fix some very nice meals for 5. The staff is very pleasant and helpful and the wifi is easy, reasonably fast, and free. It was easy to book through a nice website although I did call with a few specific questions and had a very pleasant conversation. Heartily recommend Valhalla and hope we have a chance to return.

Room Tip: Cabin 26 has a number of steps up to the deck and front door so travelers that might have trouble wi...
