“Great location, great owners, good value.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2012

On my numerous trips to perhaps my favorite location in the world, I have usually made sure to stay right in Estes Park. The charms of this wonderful village, to us are almost equal to the majestic mountains themselves, and we prefer being able to just park at our accommodations and have direct walking access to the shops, restaurants and pubs.

For many stays I had chosen the "Silver Moon Inn"; a great place, with a good staff and a four minute walk to everything Estes, BUT...I couldn't help but notice the last time I was preparing a get-away, their rates had gotten a little high for my comfort. After looking at other options, we narrowed it down to Misty; mostly due to it's location and reasonable rates.

Let me second what every reviewer has said (even the few negative ones agree)..the family that owns and operates this are GREAT, and immediately make you feel like family (the office has a marker board that publicly welcomes all the check ins for the day by name; a nice touch.) They are helpful, friendly and informative.

This is a facility that is nestled with its back against some scenic bluffs, and the front yard faces the village..it is no more than a two minute walk to town, and yet it's location still has a "nestled away" feel. This is NOT for you if you insist on new modern 4 star type luxury. This is obviously an older motel that the family owners have made some very nice updates too. Our bathroom (Unit 3) was very snug (but had been updated with nice sink and shower facilities); but for two adults; it was adequate. The rooms are decorated in the predictable cabin/rustic feel; nice enough. Bed was comfortable for us; but I could see how some would find it maybe a little 'hard' for their tastes. A big plus was a separate complete kitchen with full fridge, stove, microwave, dishes, utensils. Nice fireplace (we never used it); free wifi; all in all we were very happy with it at a rate one third less than my previous choice. Warning: rooms are NOT made up on a daily basis (we actually like that; we never had to plan are comings and going around maid service), but clean towels are always available at the office. No pool, but two hot tubs. Their newest one has got a privacy wall built around it...but we preferred the longer hike to their original smaller tub elevated on a raised deck, with spectacular views of the mountains and the village below.

This first visit was in late September 11, and we have booked for August '12. We highly recommend Misty Mountain Lodge. It is not fancy, but it is clean, comfortable, with a friendly feel; and the location is perfect.

My boyfriend and I had a great two-night stay this past weekend. On our first night we walked to dinner, only a few minutes away, then soaked in the hot tube. The following day we took a short drive into Rocky Mountain National Park and went for a hike in the snow. The owners of Misty Mountain Lodge lent us a game and in the afternoon we enjoyed a fire while making and eating dinner and playing board games. It was wonderful.

Room Tip: Room #3 has a kitchen - which is great if you want to make your own breakfast or other meals!

Misty Mountain is a Great place to stay. The Family that runs it are very friendly and helpful. What ever is needed they have for you. We picked this resort due to price and location and we have been back many times for those same reasons and because of the familiy oriented atmosphere. Smores in the evening were great. Very peaceful and quiet resort.

Room Tip: Many different types of rooms and cabins to chose from.

This place was amazing!! The family that operates the lodge are friendly and helpful. The room itself was great, it was fully equipped with everything we needed. We stayed here for almost a week and I was very sad when I had to say goodbye!! We even came in one day to find a cow elk in the front yard! We will defiantly be staying here again! And don't forget to buy firewood, from the little boy. He is super sweet and his parents let him run his own little firewood business right there at the lodge! He delivers the wood in perfect bundles to your room with a big smile on his face and he gets you set up with some matches and some firestarter too!! SUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND RIGHT IN THE HEART OF ESTES PARK!!!!

We enjoyed the 3 days we spent at Misty Mountain Lodge in September. The facility was very comfortable and clean. And the hosts (Peter and Ellen) were phenomenal. Make sure to ask for a special smore made with tiger butter :-)

Restful, convenient to town. LOVED the elk coming into the yard. Innkeeper advised us they are wild animals, but even from a safe distance they are fascinating to watch. The S'mores provided in the evening around a campfire MADE our stay even warmer. THANK YOU, Misty Mountain,.

Room Tip: We stayed in #9. Tucked back into the mountain. Quiet and cute.
