My husband and I planned our wedding at Black Canyon Inn based on online reviews. When we arrived we were pleased to find it even more amazing than we expected. We stayed the few days leading up to the wedding and our wedding night.
Our room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The view was just gorgeous, as were the grounds. I only wish we had had more time to spend in the room, but we had 30 family and friends to entertain the days leading up to the wedding, so we spent much of our time off the property.
The only problem we had with the room was the night before the wedding. We wanted to relax in a hot bath but when we turned on the water, the hot water wouldn't turn off! It was just pouring out. Normally I would have shut off the water and not worried about it till morning (it was after 11 pm), but the next morning was our wedding day, and I absolutely could not be without (hot) water. We called and emergency number and someone came right away to address the problem. We did not end up getting our bath, but we were very pleased with how responsive they were.
The wedding day was beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a better setting or better service from the staff. Absolutely everything was perfect. We originally planned to have the wedding at the pond, however when we arrived we immediately changed to the pavilion. The pond is gorgeous, and perhaps had we had a smaller group we would have stayed at that location, but after seeing it we felt it might be difficult on some of our guests to get to the pond and we knew it would be crowded. They allowed us to move the ceremony to the pavilion without any problems. One thing to consider if you are planning your wedding there - you can't see it in any of the pictures, but the road is just on the other side of the trees at the pond, so when cars drive by you will see/hear them. This was another reason we moved to the pavilion.
After the ceremony we took pictures at the pavilion and all across the grounds (we had gone into RMNP prior to the ceremony for more pictures). Aaron Cathcart was our photographer and he was phenomenal. I very highly recommend him. We got so many wonderful pictures we have about a dozen favorites. We also got a shot at the pavilion with everyone who attended. It is awesome to have had a place that worked so well for our group picture.
We then went to Twin Owls for our reception. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, and good food. I wouldn't say the food was great (I was expecting more), but considering we had a large group they did an excellent job. The one thing that was amazing - the scallops. Get them. You won't regret it!
Overall we couldn't be happier with our stay at Black Canyon and our wedding day. We will definitely return.
