“Loved Pine Haven!”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

This was our first time to the Rocky Mountain area and we chose Pine Haven for it's charm and proximity to the park. We don't like staying in motels so this gave us a more homey experience. We stayed with our two children (age 5 and 10) in Cabin 10 the Daniel Boone cabin. We had 2 separate bedroom areas, a small living /eating area and a full kitchen. We also had a great deck with table and grill. The cabins are in a nice quiet area back off the street. The Fall River runs trough the property and you hear it rushing by, which is quite relaxing. The property is great for children because it is safely back from the road and there is even a playground for them to play on. I could let them go off and play without worry. A paved bike path runs right in front of the cabins that leads into town. We walked in one day (took about 15-20 minutes to walk it with kids) and it was a nice, scenic walk to the downtown area. We checked out the shops and had lunch. It was a nice break from the park.
We were impressed with the Pine Haven staff. The owner, George, is very accommodating. He really cares about your experience and is very helpful in giving directions, suggestions, etc if needed. He does weekly cotton candy parties which are fun for the kids.
My kids enjoyed their time feeding the small ground squirrels that run all over the grounds. They are very friendly and will eat peanuts right out of you hands! Very cute! There is a nice hiking trail right on the property we did one day. It goes right up to the top of the mountain and has great views of the area.
We plan to return back again next summer and will definitely book at Pine Haven again. It was a great experience!

We stayed at Pine Haven for 3 nights and 3 days to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and go to Rocky Mtn National Park. We love the rustic cabin with all the facilities and being amongst the trees and close to everything, the river is very peaceful.

Room Tip: Some of the cabins are uphill, i recommend Cabins 4 and 12 which is away from the others, the Honeym...

My husband and I just returned from a vacation in Estes Park, Colorado. I couldn't get to my laptop fast enough so that I could rave about our outstanding experience at the Pine Haven Resort. As you arrive at the resort, expectations are high and you are hoping that it will be all that you dreamed it would be. Sure enough, it is! You first cross a little bridge under which flows this rushing creek/river. The water falls over a bed of huge rocks. After driving up the tree and flower lined driveway, you pull into your personal parking spot next to your cabin. Our log cabin was decorated in a rustic manner and had all the modern conveniences you love. There was a kitchen, table & chairs, couches surrounding a large wood burning fireplace. Of course there was a fine bathroom with shower/tub combo having excellent water pressure and soft water to boot. The master bedroom and the upstairs loft with 3 twin beds and a separate tv were just great. We found the bed very comfortable. All of the windows and doors were screened so that you could open the cabin to the fresh, pine scented air. I think that my favorite part of this experience was listening to the roar of the river through the bedroom window after dark. The bedroom had a screened door that opened onto a large deck that overlooked the river and a hill of trees. Everything was so well maintained. If you are ever planning a vacation to Estes Park, consider this lodge. You won't regret it.

Room Tip: We stayed in cabin #10.

We stayed at Pine Haven when the kids were younger but we loved it. The cabin had a loft bedroom. I enjoyed the separate living room since I suffer from insomnia in the mtns and could read w/out distrubing others. We loved the shuffleboard and the grounds are very clean and beautiful. Also a good location and easy to find. A little expensive but every place is in Estes.

We chose this cabin resort just outside Rocky Mountain National Park for its location. The cabins -- ours was one bedroom -- were very quaint, individually decorated, and clean. It was very simple, yet really had everything you would need for a small family vacation. Also very convenient to town, and there is even a path to walk if you desire. Grocery store nearby, and a nice hot tub on site. Our cabin also had a nice picnic table and deck in back, with a grill that we enjoyed one night. The biggest thrill was seeing a black bear wander through the parking lot one night, obviously searching for food. Guests all ran out with our cameras to get photos (was that smart??).

My husband, myself and 3 kids stayed at Pine Haven in Aug. 2011 for 6 nights. We absolutely LOVED it! The kids (ages 15, 12, 9) and both of us had a great time relaxing by the creek and playing shuffle board. We used the hot tub every night after a day of hiking. One day we even spent the entire day at our cabin just relaxing, grilling, etc. Cabin was in excellent condition - clean, cozy, super comfortable. George and his son were great to deal with, and would help us out with anything and made our stay even better! Close/convenient to RMNP and Estes Park downtown area, but felt like you were far out in the woods. If we go back to RMNP, we'll definitely stay here again!

Within minutes of arrival we saw our first big bull elk alongside the road beside Pine Haven Cabins, he was posing very nicely for all the cameras until a few over eager tourists invaded his personal space! We enjoyed the Cowboy Cabin and Elk Horn Cabin immensely. We were surprised by how different the firewood that was provided was from what we were accustomed to (we use hardwood in Maine, I longed for a few nice sticks of beech and maple to make the fire last longer) but the pine sticks were nice for a quick fire and to give one the ambience of having the crackle and soft flicker of a fire in the cabin. We were a little disappointed that after a long and cold snowy ride on horseback our cabin was not available at aprox 4pm for us to check into the day we needed to switch cabins, especially after leaving our other cabin virtually spotless at 7am that morning and reading reviews about how much they had done for previous guests that were moving between cabins. That said, take our disappointment with a grain of salt, as George and Joan had a mishap with the cleaning cart that day and another cabin that was left a disaster, and an employee who disappeared on an impromptu break( it was murphy's law in action!) and it slowed production but once we arrived they put all forces towards the task of making things right and getting our cabin fixed up and promptly ready and it was VERY clean and beautiful when we made it in. The attention to detail in the decor was amazing, and Fresh lillies - wonderful! We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it as a great place for friends, it is 5 min or so from the park, and a quick drive into town. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed having our own place to go to to fix meals. My five year old daughter loved the playground and the hot tub. We also saw a fox one evening near the edge of the cabins. We would love to come back and explore the hiking trails and maybe do some fishing in the river and cook on the grills! We enjoyed the wi-fi hookup since cellular service was not available this allowed us to stay connected with family at home. Our only suggestion would be a little memory foam pad for the mattresses, my poor old back did not take the standard mattress with grace, but the five year old had no complaints! George was so affable and friendly, he was a sweetheart to my daughter and even gave her a little gift to take home, his generosity and kindness was greatly appreciated!
