Amberwood is awesome in every sense of the word! At the edge of RNMP near to a running creek & nestled in great mountains-with a friendly staff who extends wonderful hospitality-come home to a log every night at the fireplace- wake up to the sun coming onto the mts!Plus only a few mintues from the city--Very reasonable, clean -peaceful- smell the pines WOW!!! After 7 years of coming- we'd never stay anywhere else!!!!! If you try it -- you'll never want to stay anywhere else!!!!

I have only one complaint - we were there for only one night. My family and I were fortunate to get a rare single-night opening in the Mountain Home, between weekly bookings. From the moment we stepped on the front porch we knew we wanted to return. It was the end of a two week trip to CO, UT and WY, with Rocky Mtn. National Park being our fifth and final NP to visit. Two days and one night are not enough. We could only imagine the wildlife that must come down the mountain during the night. A cool summer night in the Rockies was excellent for a good night's sleep. The furnishings are beautiful, everything was in excellent condiiton, the beds very comfortable, there was plenty of room to spread out and we were treated very nicely. Our favorite time was eating on the front porch. If we return to this area the Amberwood will be first on our list to stay.

My husband and I are avid wildlife watchers and nature lovers. We are out most of the day but still like to relax at night in a nice place. We stayed overnight in the Sunday House and wish we had stayed longer. Even with all of the positive reviews, Amberwood still managed to exceed our expectations. Here is why:

1) Cleaner than most 5* Hotels
2) Some of the friendliest owners that obviously take pride in their business
3) Fireplace with presto log, real towels, and kitchenette
4) Quiet property away (but close to) the hustle and bustle of Estes Park.
5) Very close to Rocky Mountain National Park.
6) Motel style set-up. Which means you don't feel guilty if you are an early morning riser and want to leave to go scouting for sunrise critters.
7) Simple, homey, and romantic.

We will return. Great value. Wonderful Experience!

We recently stayed at Amberwood for our trip to the RMNP and could not be more pleased with our choice. The rustic charm of the cabins (we stayed in cabin #6) and the quietness of the property, the only noise we heard at night was the Fall River rushing by (and the bears in the dumpster! Just kidding Dave!). I would recommend Amberwood to anyone for a great stay.

Staying at Amberwood was just the ticket for us on our 25th Anniversary. LaNelle, Dave and all the staff made us feel right at home while we enjoyed the wonderful Colorado climate and spectacular views from the front porch of the Sunday House. The accommodations are immaculate and the service superb. It was quiet, peaceful and rejuvenating. I highly recommend Amberwood.

We have been staying at Amberwood for years and always come back. The price is great and the hospitality could not be better. LaNelle treats us like family. We just got back from a long weekend and plan to return in May, Sept & Oct (as we do every year).

Dave (mgr) and LaNelle (owner) were warm, friendly, and made us feel entirely comfortable.
We stayed in Cabin #8. It was very clean. The feature we most liked was the wonderful pine plank interior. And, of course, the fireplace (we were there in winter) was great and worked flawlessly--that is, the smoke went up and out, not down and in, which has happened to us more than I like to recall.
We could have spent a lot more money and could have found more luxurious accommodations, but we felt we could not have done better for the money--very reasonable and very nice. And by saying it was not luxurious, I'm not suggesting major rustic (as in cold air drafting through badly chinked logs). It was roomy, modern, and very attractive, and did I say comfortable and warm. It was perfect for a long weekend (4 nights) in the Rocky Mountains. We left feeling connected to the place. We will most certainly return.
