“Outstanding Getaway & Hideaway Place”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

The new owners Jim and Jeannine are warm and welcoming. Our cabin was spotless and stocked with starter supplies. The location is perfect -- only a quick three miles from town -- close enough to get to town in a few minutes but far enough away from the parade of crowds. We found it quiet and relaxing. I've stayed at a few places in Estes Park and was terribly disappointed that their websites did not accurately describe the location or amenities. There are absolutely no disappointing surprises here. You get exactly what is promised. I highly recommend Rustic River Cabins and will stay here again... hopefully this fall.

Our first surprise came when we pulled into the property, not expecting it to be so close to the road. In fact, we stayed in cabin #8 which is the closest to the road, only a few yards away. Cabin #8 also happens to connect to some sort of office, which made it feel a little less private, although there were no concerns. The cabin itself didn't seem well-built, as there are certain areas where brick is still exposed in areas of the bedroom, etc. However, the place was immaculately clean. The kitchen area was spotless, as well as the bathroom. The shower was awkward because there was no light in the actual shower, so once the curtain gets shut, it's very dark. The microwave and refrigerator were absolutely spotless clean. The charcoal grill still had old coal and ash in it. The Hot tub was clean, but not real private as cars from the road were constantly present. We stayed for the minimum 3 days, so overall the total price was a bit much, but the cabin was indeed very rustic, and peaceful. We didn't talk to any management the entire time. A greeting or introduction would have been nice, but that didn't happen. It felt very cold and weird in that manner. As far as fishing, there's only about one spot on the river to fish, as the rest of the river bank is completely overgrown with trees and shrubs. The fireplace in cabin #8 is a wood-burning stove. Overall, this is a very, very clean cozy place to stay, but it's not without peculiar things that we didn't expect or like. I give it an average score for that reason, and I do not feel that my complaints are unjustified, either.

Room Tip: Do not chose Cabin #8, it's VERY close to the road, and the garbage can.
