My husband and I had a really unexpected amazing time at the top of this small mountain. We went in the mid afternoon expecting to maybe spend an hour at the top and ended up staying nearly until they closed. Feeding the chipmunks was unbelievably fun and totally worth the $0.50/scoop of peanuts from the gift shop. Plan to spend at least a few hours, the time will go by faster than you think. There is also a nice short trail, and if you're adventurous a couple good places to climb up for a better view.

Great place for a family outing. Riding the tram is scary and fun. Then once you're at the top you can spend as much time as you like climbing the rocks and feeding the chipmunks. The views of Estes and the mountains are phenomenal.

The tram offers a nice view of Estes Park from a unique vantage point...a tram going up the side of a mountain. The views are great and you can spend as much time up top looking down over the city as you like. The $12 fee is steep for a ride that lasts a few minutes but doing it one time is worth it. There are chipmonks you can feed up top and there are some food and drinks for you as well. A small gift shop with some average stuff is also at the top.

We've been to Estes Park many times, but had never ridden the tram. Our 9-year-old thought it sounded like fun, so we decided to give it a whirl. It's a bit pricey for what it is (it was nearly $30 for the three of us), but definitely worth it to do it once. The trams leave every six minutes both going up and coming down and you can choose how long you stay at the top. There's not much to do up there, but there is a gift shop with some snacks (popcorn, hot dogs, pre-packaged ice creams, soda, etc.) and there is a hiking trail that goes down the other side of the hill (which isn't much help if you parked in the tram's lot, but might be cool if you planned for it in advance). The views are great and a bit unique - there aren't many places that can offer a similar vantage point. It's not amazing, but it's neat.
