chili or clam chowder and the best cornbread and pie's around and a wonderful view of the mountains. A little of of the way, but well worth it.

“Quaint Surprise”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

Our B&B Hosts at Dripping Springs Resort, Estes Park told us about this wonderful place across the road and down the hill from Lilly Lake. The young man host at the restaurant was very polite and friendly. He answered all of our questions about the book which we had never heard of before "Seven Keys to Baldpate". Now I’m going to read the book or see if I can find one of the several movies produced. The Key Museum was very interesting. My husband and I ate the Salad and Soup Bar which was all you can eat, it was very good. Not a huge variety but it was more than enough choices for us. The good healthy lettuce and fresh spinach with lots of extras. They also had a wonderful Waldorf Salad and also a Tuna salad. I cut a slice of the still warm homemade bread and made an open face sandwich. They had a choice of two soups, my husband and I both had the White Chili with chicken, and it was very good. They also had a Tomato with rice. The muffins really made the meal, sunrise and also a peanut butter, both were awesome. There were also cheese cubes, several different varieties. The salad bar was $15 and the pie was $6 additional. It looked wonderful, many varieties. The muffins were our dessert. The view was awesome and the service was good. Wonderful afternoon at a wonderful restaurant.

“Wasted Our Mondy”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

We had "dinner" at the Baldpate the week of 9 Sept 2012. Only offering is a soup and salad bar. Staff was indifferent, salad bar was limited, bread was dry and soup was watery. Did not stay overnight. Nice historic building but we will never return. What a disappointment.

“Have loved Baldpate Inn for many years.”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

Have loved the history of this wonderful old inn for a long time. In fact have read the book "Seven Keys to Baldpate" where the name was derived. After all this time I had the joy of eating here this August 2012! Yes, it is a salad bar, soup and muffins and breads and desserts..certainly enough to satisfy anyone...and yes, it was delicious!

As we sat by the window, with lace curtains, we watched humming birds come to the feeder as we ate. Just delightful! The Key Room is a must! Not to be missed! Even a key to Mozart's Wine Cellar. Someday would love to stay there.

“Pleasant Surprise”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

Our kids suggested dinner at the Baldpate Inn so we took up their suggestion. The menu was a simple buffet, not my favorite format. Essentially there's a salad bar (great blue cheese dressing), home made muffins (excellent corn bread), soup, and homemade pie. My wife and I split a rhubarb pie and a peach pie. Both were excellent. But the kicker was the Inn itself. Built in 1917, it's located high above Estes Park (translate that to an excellent view). It's like going back in time.
We also attended a free lecture after dinner on the history of the Inn and descriptions of a few of their keys for their collection of 60,000 keys hanging from the ceiling of their "key" room. The owner is delightful. Truly a wonderful experience where we'll bring our friends.
