“Very Comfortable home like place to stay.”

We felt almost like we were visiting family in a nicely decorated home. The location was perfect for my wife and I. We prefer to be just outside of the hustle and bustle of tourist areas. It is located close enough for a bike ride to anything you may need or want but far enough away to be quiet. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They gave us great suggestions for restaurants. We spent two nights there while on a 17 day road trip and it was money well spent. The only negative was sleeping through the bear in the yard in the middle of the night. From the safety of our balcony it would have been fun to see.

Room Tip: We had a second floor room with a private balcony looking over the yard and stream. It was decorated...

My husband and I enjoyed a 4 night stay at Deer Crest Resort in July, and could not have been happier with our accomodations, the grounds, and the location. Nestled in a beautiful setting beside the banks of the Fall River, Deer Crest is a peaceful and wonderful place to relax, yet is close to both the entrance to the RMNP, as well as just a short drive into town. We were treated each evening to the sight of a gorgeous elk who favored the grasses near the resort. Immaculately clean and perfectly maintained, our room (the Bear Den) was roomy and enjoyable. The folks who run the resort are friendly and helpful. I can highly recommend Deer Crest for a perfect Rocky Mountain stay.

This resort is located outside of the business district of Estes Park on the banks of the Fall River. The river is literally steps away from your room; you are able to walk right into the river if you choose to get your feet wet. There is even a little waterfall that we sat by as we sipped our pre-dinner wine. Seating areas are plentiful on the grassy area as well as table and chairs outside each room. There is also a 24hr indoor hot tub available for guests and grills, both gas and charcoal. We stayed in a fireplace mini-suite that had air conditioning which was a nice extra but not really a necessity. Our first night there we were visited by a large elk who was munching on grass at the resort entrance. The rooms at the resort are quaint and homey with comfortable beds. The bathroom is not fancy with granite or marble vanities but the shower in our room had a very modern tile wall/glass door. The kitchenette had a stovetop, fridge, microwave and coffeemaker along with plates and utensils.
Nicole and her dad run the place and were very helpful and informative. The adult only policy created a very quiet environment. There are free DVDs and popcorn available at the front office. Nature lovers will enjoy the many hummingbirds and marmot who frequent the grounds. Nicky's Steakhouse is a short walk down the road for a great steak or Colorado trout.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Deer Crest.....it is positioned well for the National Park. We stayed in the Bear Den suite....... I would say it was a little quirky...... Very clean, big enough, plenty of facilities......so really good, we would definitely return and go for this room (quirky can be fun). The location was good not just for the Park but also the creek and the town. I also liked that the facility is adult only......... I like kids, but when your own are grown up you don't always want to accommodate others......... The other guests were very friendly at this facility.

We have been to this resort before and I have to say it's in about the best location possible. It's close to the entrance to RMNP and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Estes. It is an older property but quite well maintained and for adults only. It's so relaxing to sit on one of the many benches near the beautiful Fall River in the back yard of the resort. On several occasions we saw a huge bull elk munching leaves by the river or eating grass by the parking lot out front. He always drew quite a crowd.
There is no continental breakfast but each room is equipped with a coffee maker, fridge and microwave, also a table and a couple chairs. We brought a toaster from home and were able to buy a few breakfast items at the grocery store which is very near by. The upstairs rooms have a balcony overlooking the river and there are tables and chairs by each of those rooms as well. The lower level rooms have a patio and a large round table and four chairs. Our friends were on the lower level so their room and patio were our breakfast area. You can't beat sitting outdoors for breakfast in the mountains, especially if that big old elk strolls by. Also fun to observe the hundreds of hummingbirds that flock to the nectar feeders that the owners have placed all along the balcony.
Only problem we encountered was that for some odd reason the lock on the door to the hot tub malfunctioned and we were not able to get in one evening. Maintenance was fixing that first thing the next morning. The rooms are nice but the bathrooms are pretty small. Don't really know how that could be remedied. Fortunately the sink is in the main room, not with the tub and stool.
The family that owns and operates this place are super friendly and work very hard to ensure that your vacation is as good as it gets. Would definitely come back.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms have a door on either end of the room, with high ceilings and ceiling fans. You g...

My wife and I spent 2 nights at Deer Crest. Based on other reviews I had read, we booked room 207. It was absolutely wonderful - 2nd floor with a private balcony overlooking the stream and small waterfall. The sound was so relaxing, we slept like babies. The room was spotlessly clean, equipped with a microwave and refrigerator, and a very comfortable king size bed. But most of all, just sitting on the balcony, with a good book, or in one of the swing seats or Adirondack chairs right by the edge of the stream, oh so enjoyable. Great and friendly hosts, excellent accommodations, close to downtown Estes Park, but most of all, the peace and quiet, and a babbling brook to boot. We'll be back.

Room Tip: Room 207 is really great, but any of the other rooms that front on the stream would also be good. Th...

My wife, mom and dad just finished a 3-night stay here and once again it exceeded expectations. If you're looking for an adult-only comfortable and relaxing experience between RMNP and the city of Estes Park this is your place to go. The rooms are large and beds are very comfortable and, of course, you have the Fall River just steps away from your balcony. It's a magical place and well taken care of by the owners who have done some nice improvements to the property. The area is frequented with Elk as well. Every day of our stay we saw elk grazing next to the hotel which caused cars to stop along the road and the tourists to take pictures. If you are staying Friday, Saturday or Sunday morning I suggest going next door to Nicky's for breakfast where you can enjoy a great omelet while sitting outside on a table over the river. We'll definitely be coming back again and again to Deer Crest and can't wail until next year!

Thank you for your kind words regarding Deer Crest Resort on Fall River. We are thankful you took the time to share your feelings about our property with others. We have an extremely high return rate and glad you and your family are among so many others that have found our resort a peaceful and relaxing retreat and come back year after year... Thanks too for mentioning some of our new enhancements. The beautiful firepit is a good place to relax with our Colorado cool evenings. Our new covered pavillion is extremely popular as well and provides another great place to relax, gather to play cards or just enjoy the mountains. Our waterfall near the pavillion is nearly complete and provides the soothing sounds for which we were hoping to achieve in the new area. Can't wait to see you next year.. Best Regards, Carrie, Ken and Nicole.
