Unless you are starving and have no other options, with a lot of patience.. skip this place for food. While the staff was nice, the service was disorganized and poor.

As we tried to enter, we had to stand and wait to get through a bundle of congestion at the entrance.. where people were at the cash register & coffee area.. and just wandering aimlessly in-between oblivious to the rest of the world, the staff was not much more awake.

Food: Orange juice was warm, so I then asked for a cold oj, and a glass of ice-water, the server came back with ice cubes in my oj. The next try he brought warm water. The french toast was not cooked all the way through, and when I ordered I was not able to complete my order before the server went away.

So the food factor aside.. the views are really nice, we were visited by a chatty crow (which was adorable).. and then a little rain.. so again nice place to visit, just not to eat. (PS if you sit outside, beware of the foul odor of wildlife-poo).

The restaurant is a combination general store and food service. Big windows show a panorama of the Rockies. Funky and fun, it is not haute cuisine, but the haute views make it a good stop.

This is at the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. We sat outside for breakfast on a sunny day and overlooked a small waterfall and wonderful views of the mountains. It was quiet and serene. Service was very good as was the food. Corn pancakes were delicious as were the biscuits and gravy. Very pleasant and enjoyable.

We felt like we had wasted our money when we left the Trailhead Restaurant. We chose to sit on the deck because it was a gorgeous day. The host seated us and I asked for a different chair because there was bird poo on mine. He said that was just the coloring of the chairs! It clearly wasn't and it would have been no problem to just grab a chair from another table or wash it off, but he wasn't willing to do this. I switched the chair with another after he walked away. Overall, the deck and seating were filthy. Our waitress did what was needed, but clearly did not want to be there (I didn't either at this point!). My husband and I ordered burgers which were not great. They were premade burger patties like the ones you can buy for a cookout. Our kids did not like their meals either (packaged mac and cheese). Go back to Estes for a good meal and better service!

We ate here because we rode horses at the stables next door and were given a 25% coupon. We were very impressed! The Elk stew was fantastic! The steak was seasoned perfectly and I thoroughly enjoyed the potatoes and the assorted veggies that came with it!

We ate on the patio and it was so enjoyable! We will eat there again before we leave.

Highly recommend!
