Poppy's Pizza has good food and service, and is located in town, on the river. We were greeted and seated quickly, and our waitress was attentive. My salad was tasty, even though it was mostly comprised of lettuce stems (instead of green leaves). We ordered plain cheese pizza, which was good too. And the atmosphere was pleasant. Overall, we had an excellent experience.

Especially the micro brewed beer from all over the world, many on tap. This charming restaurant on the river offers a diversified menu, including some very different pizzas. I admit we have not been there since the flood, but our entire family was very pleased with the food. In fact, I returned with the granddaughters and they ordered the same thing they had before. Estes Park has recovered beautifully--and the town is vibrant again, especially on weekends.

Despite repeated vows to not return, we have been to Poppy's many times over the past several years. Why? Various reasons. It's locally owned, on the river, sometimes in the summer it's the only place to get a table...and most recently we just wanted to give them a boost after the devastating flood that essentially isolated Estes Park.

We really want to like this restaurant, but they need--and can--do better.

It's simply mediocre at best, terrible in many aspects. On the upside, Poppy's has a nice beer selection featuring mostly local brews. The patio facing the river is very pleasant in the afternoon sunshine. The portions, with the exception of the pizzas, generous...which obviously appeals to the "bigger is better" crowd.

But it's downhill from there.

The service is sometimes pleasant, but very spotty, unprofessional and uneven. The interior decor is dreary. Despite a promising-looking menu, the food ranges from tasteless and unpleasantly chewy pizza, sandwiches that consistently come out soggy (why? and expediting problem), salads that mainly feature iceberg lettuce and a grey buffalo burger that tastes of the freezer and filler. And if those are completely homemade onion rings (as they advertise) AND fresh (not frozen) then Good Times needs to teach them how to make a decent onion ring.

We will probably keep giving Poppy's a chance and at least enjoy a beer on the lovely patio, but we really hope they step up the food and the service.

We go to Estes every year and ususally don't eat out much. So we hadn't yet stepped into Poppy's. This time up we didn't bring the three kids so we could afford to "Splurge". It was a mistake not to go in here sooner!!

We had a great lunch at a great price...good soup and a BLT for $6, are you kidding me...what a deal!

The menu had so many good choices it was hard to decide, but the special was too good to pass up.

They also have a great salad bar and a huge beer selection with local microbrews and several Belgian beer selections.

Atmosphere was casual and wait staff was very professional.

We will be going back to Poppy's.

Glad Poppy's was open for our late November trip through Estes Park! They have recovered nicely from the flood. Pizza is top notch! The individual is just right for one person, if you are really hungry. Nice salad bar with good selection, although you have to be a bit of a contortionist to reach some items. Service was excellent
